Remember, on countdown they have to solve in 30 seconds, without calculators.

if its possible civilian solve it if not post new numbers

Have a bit of patience lisa

    (100 + 5) * (4 * 2) = 840 - 3 = 837

Exactly. I checked before i posted, and this was a tricky enough one. But yeah, I used a pretty similar solution to daves.

    8+6=14+1=15*50=750-6=744

There's no rule on countdown to use all the numbers, screw that! :p The challenge is set, it's all yours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

hey I accept you one, it just took me ages to do it with all the numbers so I completely missed your post in the meantime.

Ahh, right. The trick is to hit F5 when you're done to make sure no one's beaten you to the post.

    cheers.

I'm struggling with your last one now. I got 397 but forgot how I did it.

    Want the solution?

    (75 +4) * (8-3) = 395 +1

    100 75 25 50 3 1 Target: 667

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

is this actually do-able? The closest I can get is 5 away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭Civilian_Target

I very much doubt it, although I haven't tried. It looks sadist TBH.
And now it's just occured to me how to do it!

    75-1=74*25=1850+1=1851/3=617+50=667

[EDIT]I saw the gist, but had to resort to the calculator for the grunt work....

    Eureka!

Ahh balls, so I did. But that just stops the decimal places in the answer. Otherwise you get 666.67 which you can round up to 667 anyway :)
