Missing DUN Status Connection

    Trying to fix a problem on someone's computer - they're on an ISDN connection, and a while back, the normal DUN icon in the system tray stopped displaying. This was about the same time that they said a dialler tried to install itself, but it was removed.

    Since then, there has been no icon, even when the "Show icon in taskbar when connected" box is ticked. Creating a new connection doesn't help, and the same thing happens with the LAN connection (no status icon, even if the box is ticked).

    Anybody have any ideas?

    Wow .. well that's a pickle and a half innit? :)

    I've never heard of that little icon not coming up after you tick the checkbox. ... possibly try uninstalling all network cards / modems and removing them (if possible) completely from your system.

    Then put them back in one at a time, installing one at a time?

    I actually tried an uninstall/reinstall but it made no difference. Since both the modem & NIC are working perfectly otherwise, I think it's something to do with that dialler that they got rid of - sounds like something one of those pr0n diallers would do. I figure that it haxored something in the registry but damn if I can find out what it is :)

    Ah - yeah then you're probably right there. Just tell them not to view porn! It makes god kill kittens you know ;)

    Download AdAware or something similar, it'll clean out the registry for you!
