http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ I use this for everything, it is excellent and free and a small download. You won't need any codecs. Also, sygate offer a free personal firewall.

It uses less than 2% cpu power on my pc, alot better than wmp or bsplayer

I prefer BSPlayer, some the skins available look great and it's a neat little package. Only takes up ~1-2% of my processor.
