    in fairness to them I think it was a mistake.
    I mean, it doesnt make any sense for him to be black, in relation to the cartoon. Also, if he was intentionally black they would have made his sponge-holes (hehe)more apparent. Anyone who uses paint shop pro or photoshop knows how easy it can be to fill an image with one colour... maybe it was an un-noticed slip of the mouse at the last minute or something (or a pissed off worker who snuck it in really quickly just before going to print)
