"The Government has decided that road signs referring to miles for distances and speeds will be withdrawn in September.

The Minister for Transport, Seámus Brennan, said he intends to pick a date in September when all road signs will go metric and will be shown in kilometres."

Well, at least people will be able to use the guaranteed confusion as an excuse when they get caught speeding- sorry officer, I thought that sign meant 60 miles per hour!!

there will be no 60 sign and there are very few of them at the moment. The sing will also have km/h so, you will be done.

i wonder how this will play out...
naturally theyll need to change every sign in as little time as possible, because its only going to cause confusion if your driving down the road, and all the signs are kmph, and suddenly you see one thats mph and your getting confused (even for afew seconds, any confusion behind the wheel of a car is dodgy)

will they have the man power to do an over-night all in one job?? maybe THATS why theyre not restricting employment access to new european members for the time being.....

I heard months ago that they were going to do it all in the one night.

In all fairness though, this is Ireland. Do you really think they're going to manage to do it all in one night? I bet it will take at least a month from start to finish due to "administration problems" and "operational problems" and the sign changers looking for a pay rise!
