( ( ( 100 - 1 ) * 8 ) + 25 ) + 1 = 818 is the closest i can get

I solved it eventually, but the game had gone on.

25-5 =20

20*4 = 80

(80-1) * 4 = 316

316-5 = 311

i've never seen this done on countdown but:

25/50 = 0.5
0.5 + 1 + 1 +100 = 102.5
102.5 * 8 = 820
