Would use a feature that would delete stupid texts you sent?

Having sent many stupid texts when i have been drunk i was thinking of a feature which would let you revoke texts that had not been delivered. Even perhaps texts that have been delivered as well.

This would allow you to undo any stupid things you may have text to people in a moment of stupidity.

This feature surely would not be to difficult to setup perhaps if you could have a code system where you sent this code as a text and it revokes the last message you sent to that phone.

Its not likely to happend but its and idea.

I would certainly use it would you even if you had to pay for it?

whats the point in deleting a text off someones phone because you dont want them to see it if it's already been delivered and probably already read?

Drunk texts are the backbone of society... I for one would be disgusted if all these drunken moments of sincerity could be simply erased by sending a quick command to the recipients phone.

man, i would've killed to be able to do that on new years day.
my phone woke me up with 2 delivery reports:dunno:
i vaugly remember on of the messages going along the lines of "you're a slut, but i'm cool with it."
its prolly a good thang that i can't remember the second message

Once a person has received the text it's data on their phone and it would be an invasion of privacy if you could delete them without their consent. plus most messages are delivered nearly instantly so it wouldn't be useful to stop them before delivery either. Maybe they could have special drunk settings on phones. You would put it on before you go drinking and it would ask you "are u sure u want to send this message" a few times before you did so. Or just leave your phone at home when you go on the p*ss.

Things I say when drunk get me laid. I'm far too timid when sober

after you send the message send another one that says

"Sorry my mate just sent you a message hope it wasnt anything rude"

If that fails next day say

    "Dont remember, Didnt happen"

Maybe even a breathalyser thingy that would only let you ring taxis when under the influence!!

I want one and I want it now (well not now now but ya get the gist).

OH but the many, *many* drunken texts that I have sent and received.

yes yes yes, what we really need is the cellular telephone equivalent of beer goggles that makes every text seem like a plea for drunken sex

    Plausible deniability, nice.

After they've invented that, they can invent something that undoes stupid things I say. I mean, you can leave your phone at home, but it's tough to go on the piss with a gag on.

    Ah if microsoft made mobiles.
I think phone companies do rather well off this and doubt they'd like it very much.
I fall victim to this a bit. Something needs to be down.

What the f*ck is Atari Jaguar, and why are some spas actually voting for it??

A feature like that would be handy from a sender's point of view, but then I'd miss out on the drunken texts I get from other people :)

I wish you could take back what you said. There's one thing making an idiot out of yourself while sober, you learn from your mistakes, but when you don't even know you made a mistake until someone is banging at your front door asking for their windows back or you wake up in your girlfriends front garden covered in jam you begin to wish you had a time machine.

google is your friend! the short version is, that it was a the worlds first 64bit games console (officially) although from what i remember it just had 2x32 bit CPU's instead and in atari land apparently that's the same as a single 64bit one.

as for the text thing, as has aleady been said, a simple breathalyser on your phone would do the trick. set it so that when you're a certain amount over the limit all you can do is call joe maxi's and can't send texts.

or you wake up in your girlfriends front garden covered in jam you begin to wish you had a time machine.

    That's class :)

The one thing I hate is when you're referring to someone in a text and you accidentally send the message to that person. Luckily I'm not normally in the habit of saying bad things behind a person's back (although I am starting to pick up the trait from people around me which is something I'm going to have to watch, don't like that trait emerging in myself) so usually it's just amusing. Like typing a message to Friend B saying "you going out tonight? Myself and Friend A are going to ..." and sending it to Friend A by accident.

Once had an incident where we were joking about something, a friend of mine was saying "yeah and he was definitely comparing sizes with the other guys in the jacks" and I sent him a message back saying "is it true what you said about x in the jacks? will have to drop him a few hints the next time I see him :)" and accidentally sent it to the guy we were talking about. God that was embarrassing.

I sent a text to my boss over a week ago that was meant for someone else and it was about me handing in my notice. So instead of having to work out my notice I was alowed to leave straight away and I still get paid for the whole month. It wouldn't have happened without sending the text. I also had the bonus of him finding out I think he's a knob which I wouldn't have said to him anyway.

i for one would like to remove my "sent items" folder from my phone.many a morning ive cringed while reading what i sent the night b4.el vino veritas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 21,345 ✭✭✭✭Stark

speak of the devil, just got a text from a friend there - "are you sure that text was meant for me?". oops :)

Used to have a motorola phone, god I hated those things. you accidentally send a text, says "text sending". you hit cancel, returns to where you were. You think "nice one". Then a few seconds later it comes up with "message sent".

its pretty clear what we need. breathalyser phones. before you send the message you blow into it.

or leave youre phone at home. yes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 201 ✭✭sparkite

yeah i guess leaving the phone at home would be the smart thing to do but then how could we ring "the one that got away" on the walk home!
