At some stage I'm going to want to get some stuff typed up from minidisc. I'll need someone localish (Dublin 6/6W), a fast and really accurate typist, and they'll need to have a minidisc themselves, obviously.

What's the going rate per page, and can anyone suggest someone good?

This is not regular work, just an occasional thing; I'd like to do business with a neighbour, but it would have to be someone really accurate and fast and reliable.

You'd be better posting this in a local shop.

What, post a notice in a local shop asking what the going rate is? <confused>

humm well where I work we charge 3 euro per typed page, but that is in Athlone. my typing speed is around 100 words per min, but the last time I checked that was over a year ago (i think i can do a lot more than that now, but only if i'm bothered). So i'm guessing around 3-4 euro per page

Bob, what do you call a page?

My pages tend to be A4, single-spaced, with two spaces between each paragraph, and short paragraphs. You?

Id be the same as BoB_bot, depending on the size of the document. Slightly more per page for small documents decreasing as the document gets larger. So maybe around €3 per page for say a 20-page document, and around €4.00 per page for a 5-page doc.

I'd consider a page to be between 35-50 lines at 12 pt, single spacing and with 1 inch page borders.

OK, just counted a page, and there were 38 lines (not counting the spaces between pars). I would certainly not pay €3 or €4 per page for that, that's way too little. I'd feel mean doing it, but I'd pay a tenner a page.

With your budget you could get it typed twice and then compare both of them for differences..

Heh! No, I just want someone local who's accurate and reliable and nice to deal with, and I'll ask them to put track numbers every four pars; that way I can check any contentious quotes against the track on the disc.

Oh, it's from a voice recording.....missed that bit. Yeah that'd be a little more. Maybe €6 per page regardless of the size of the document.
