"Text Book" Managment

You know those managers that have no practical knowledge or experiences in their job?
The ones who got a book one day called "managment for dummies", thumbed through it and now consider themselves capable of being in control?
Or the ones that have zero interest in the product(s) they are selling in their company, but get frustrated when they see income drop?

anyone got any good stories about experiences with these types?
c'mon, vent a little.

This reminds me of my days working in a petrol station under some asshole that used to be a manager in supermacs.

The horrific bastards are everywhere, and they almost completely drown out the managers that are actually good at what they're supposed to do.

I'm kept reminded of them by that godawful Lemsip ad, for some reason.

a good manager is somebody you want to work for, isn't demeaning to his staff, is able to get on with them but also get serious when he needs too, is concerned about the business and customer service, is not afraid to delegate to others the list goes on....

sounds like a good leader. Doesn't always have to be to be a good manager. All depends on whos point of view. Most seriously profitable businesses are boring with managers that stay very low on the public horizon- insurance and banks spring to mind.
Often times a manager is managing for his/her shareholders and employees come a bit down the pecking order.;)

but seriously it depends which level of management you are talking about some manager interact a lot more with the staff then others.
