Need to find out how many people took the plunge at the Forty Feet in Sandycove on Christmas Day last year (2002). It's for a bet and kinda need proof - link to website would prolly be sufficient :)

    Edit:

About 1000 swimmers did it this Christmas. The stakes of the bet have just increased to €150. I would greatly appreciate any comments :)

    Thanks Lump

I googled for about two hours prior to posting this thread. Had no luck either with the archives of the Irish Times and the Independent. These are very summary and do not include detail on trivial matters like the Christmas plunge at the forty foot :)

    Any help greatly appreciated

LOL - yes, I'll reward the first person providing evidence that will lead to me winning the bet

Thanks for that herbie747 - it was the pretty much the best link I found myself before I started this thread :)

iirc it did state the estimated number of swimmers in the Irish Times of December 27th, 2002. Anybody has access to a copy?

I don't know about other colleges, but DCU has some kind of program on some computers in the library that lets you search past newspapers, so if you can get hold of someone...
