    Just out of curiousity, was it just because the original propagators were predominantly Nigerian that it came to be known as almost exclusively a Nigerian run racket? I mean it's a fairly straight-forward scam, which I'm sure any individual of any nationality could come up with.

    That and the fact that lots of nigerian officials were involved in those scams. And nigerian officials were also involved in scams to "help you recover your money".
    But mainly since there is no chance of recovering any wonga if it enters nigeria..
