I can't remember, but they both got done in the courts for having different prices at the bar compared to those posted outside. They both admitted it (pointless to argue really)

    Mobile Phones for 35euro

You are posting a link to a pyramid scheme on a Rip-Off board. Interesting choice of sig.

At least you weren't posting an ad.

Yea the problem isn't really with overcharging from their posted prices, it's the posted prices in general as they are overcharging in the first place.
Only thing that's gonna fix that is revamp of the licence laws allowing more competition.
Twenty four hour drinking'll help to.

until pubs start to take a bit of a beating from the consumer they will charge what they like, people are forced to pay a small fortune for drink unless they drink at home, this smoking ban might hurt them but if it dosen't last they'll up the price the day it's lifted.

Last I heard the sales were down %20. Prices are still the same though.
Revamping license laws would force competition and break the cartel they have now. That's how they are able to charge such criminal prices in the first place.
I don't think you are going to be able to break a social norm so quickly. People are going to go to the pub.
I don't think the smoking ban is really going to hurt them either.

Yup, but we don't have to put up with that murphys stuff, only place a iknow that sells it and not guinness is the sugar club, which i never intend to go back to again.

Regarding all this exhorbitant drinks prices--Why dont people arrange a sort of demonstration to highlight the fact that we are being ripped off.

Mate of mine had a great idea but doesnt have the guts to carry it out.
    Idea was this.
Get about 10-20 people or so to go into a pub as a group.Agree a price before hand on what price the group considers as "reasonable" per drink ie €4.00 per pint or whatever.

Order a round of drinks. And when the drinks are all pulled ask the price per pint.

If the price is "reasonable" ie under the agreed price then pay the bill and off to next pub to start again but if the price is a rip off price then the group refuse to accept the drinks on the basis that its too expensive and all stand up and leave while displaying some sort of banner/placard and generally highlighting the issue.

Could also get a bit of newspaper coverage along with some rip-off Ireland t-shirts to wear when refusing to pay the bill.

Only problem I can see is what are the legal ramifications in refusing to pay for the drinks after they are ordered???
Can you imagine hitting 10 pubs per night and each pub having to throw 20 pints away.????

They wouldn't be thrown away. They would remain standing on the drip tray out of view and passed off to punters after being sparingly "topped up".

Another thing would be to get a group together to monitor when licenses are renewed. Then protest every license on whatever grounds can be used.
Yet another thing would be to repeal the Victorian Era licensing laws that created the cartel in the first place.
Oh it might also help to find out the exact corrupt pols that are getting paid off by the Vintners Association, and lock em up.
