Anything over €80 and I’d be out, although realistically I’m not going to get it at launch anyway. I imagine it will chug along at 30fps on my base PS5 so if I ever do end up getting it, it will be at a time in the distant future when I can afford hardware that runs it well!

But really this game is going to make billions for rockstar over the next decade, if any game doesn’t need to overcharge its players, it’s this one.

GTA6 doesn't interest me at all, mainly because real world USA 2026 + Social Media + AI + Influencers have rendered real life much more ridiculous and fantastic than anything a video game could convey.

I bet Rockstar spent 10 million+ dollars just designing, approving and marketing the box art above. 🤣

Total sales is all I saw, didn't break it down by category.

GTA PC release is usually a few months after console but the gap between V getting a release was insane. At least it was a substantial improvement over the console version. Think it was nearly 18 months for V. Hoping it's not that long for this one. It could well be though as they obviously used the PC release of V as the basis for the next Gen version. Pretty sure they'll do that with 6.

GTA VI is releasing like that because they now know they can sell multiple versions of it over many years. Initial console release, pc release, improved console release, next gen update for pc, next gen update for PS6/Helix, and on. Don't forget the RDR 2 remaster for next gen too (although still waiting on the current gen one, so probably closer to PS6/Helix end of life).

€80 is my cut off too. And while I'm known to have a rubber arm, being broke and wanting to know how much the realism impeeds fun, and how much of the in game social media i need to tolerate, will stop me from getting it on release. Most likely.

Looking at the cover art, it's got alligators in it. So, they've reskinned part of RDR2 for this. 😁

So word doing the rounds that the 1000+ NPCs in Fable are fully voice acted by approximately 100 real people. So that means each voice actor has ~10 characters to voice. Hmmmm... i suspect there'll be a lot of repetition and similar sounding characters. Begs the question, do we need 1000+ characters in a game. Hope they can pull it off tbh.

Better than 1000 NPCs voices by 4 people in your typical Bethesda game.

While obviously the real test will be the game itself, when you look at how many characters Harry Shearer or Hank Azaria offer up in The Simpsons, it’s a reminder how versatile a good voice actor can be.

Player unknown is winding up their early access game "Prologue: Go Wayback" and closing most of the studio. A small team will continue to work on the tech side.

But for the game, they updated it for the last time today and made it free to play.

I think there will be three editions: Standard, Special and Collector's, just like there was with V.

    Standard: €75-€80

    Special: €100

    Collector's: €150+

I don't think and I hope there won't be early access.

I'd say there may be early access to GTA Online, but not the main game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 625 ✭✭✭MikeRyan87

Im not sure GTA Online will go live the same time as the main game. Maybe a month later or something.

I reckon there'll be a third playable character.

Yeah I'd say they'll hold off on Online for about a month. Let people have the opportunity to enjoy and learn the game/map through the single player, then launch Online about a month later. Especially since you'll no doubt be interacting with a lot of the same characters from the single player to the Online modes (and possible story connections and spoilers).

No need to rush adding Online. GTAV Online was added about a month after launch and it still generates crazy numbers 13 years later.

Bobby Prince, the composer of the original Doom games and Duke Nukem 3D has died.

On the Xbox is in a dire situation , does anyone actually buy a console for a game anymore? I personally dont think so ( I am an exception who bought a ps5 for silent hill 2 remake mainly). But if nobody is willing to buy an Xbox regardless of what they are releasing they are screwed. Its more difficult to now own all consoles as price points are getting unrealistic

Parents either start buying kids games on their consoles or they kids play on what their friends have which due to market share will be majority playstation.

In this scenario I cant see where MS can shift hardware.

Well I bought a PS4 because of Bloodborne.

I'd probably have bought a PS5 for astrobot but it released so late in the console life cycle that there is a good chance there will be nothing else of interest on that console before it's obsolete so held off.

Usually if buy a console for a game and the strength of the potential future line up but that's kind of changed recently. You can kind of bet on Nintendo delivering enough interesting games but I was pretty disappointed by the PS4.

Nintendo hasn't been great since the GC in my opinion.

Did you buy and enjoy the Wii and WiiU?

Bit of a bounce back with the Switch, still ended up selling it as I didnt use it for over a year.

Another console getting a Lego kit, this is a bigger one like the NES and Atari 2600 rather than the recent Mega Drive set.

    Looking forward to that set.

Going even more retro, they're also releasing a working pinball machine which is very very cool.

I sort of think Nintendo rediscovered their magic after the GameCube. It was a great console but trying to compete with Sony and MS on specs just didn’t work for them.

The DS and Wii were built around innovative gameplay rather than pushing graphics. The Wii was almost worth it for Wii Sports alone.

The Wii is a fantastic console with an incredible library. Have mine out of storage at the moment and really enjoying all the games I didn't get around to. As the biggest GC fan it's honestly a much, much better console and has a better library.

As for the WiiU I had a PS4 preordered and on release day got a WiiU instead. It might have been a flop that lasted maybe 3 years but I got more fun out of it than the PS4 I eventually bought (although you'd have gotten more out of a PS4 if you don't game of PC).

And of course people dismiss handhelds, the DS is my all time favourite console and the 3DS is up there with the best. Only the PS2 library is on the same level as the DS library.

So yeah, I totally disagree. Nintendo have been great even when they haven't been doing well as long as you are willing to try games outside the Triple A sphere. There's a lot of snobbery around the Wii and people don't even consider their handhelds but they are excellent systems.

There's so many good games on the Wii, honestly it's chock full of incredible games but because it's the Wii people just ignore them. Finished up Sin and Punishment 2 and it's honestly one of the all time greats.

I also feel the GC is getting the phantom menace treatment. I adored the GC but really it played second fiddle to my PS2. Every so often you would get an incredibly GC game but the PS2 was where it was at. People that grew up with the GC are now proclaiming that it was great, just like these phantom menace hot take re-evaluation but even as a fan it wasn't great. You'd wait months between big releases.

People also just dismiss handheld gaming while the DS and 3DS are two of the all time great consoles.

Absolutely love the GBA and DS. Didnt play much of the 3DS.

Wii does have the Galaxy games which are way better than Odyssey. I prefer PS2 to GC overall as well though.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 55,038 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The Wii is kind of like the GC in that it's more of a good secondary console but it is a much better console than the GC. The library is really strong and as most people ignored it it's a really fun console to go back to and discover how much good stuff is on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,097 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

The Steam Controller is so heavily "pre-ordered" that if you don't already have your name down it'll be some time in 2027 when you'll get it. Granted, no payment required so a lot of people who have registered may not buy one, but still, that's either hefty demand or low production, or both.

Capcom shifting Onimusha Way of the Sword release 3 weeks earlier to September 4th. A wise decision. They did the same thing with Pragmata I think.

WiiU gave us some of the best video games of all time:

    - Super Mario 3D World

    - Mario Kart 8

    - Breath of the Wild

    - Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

    Wii of course:

    - Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2

Absolutely wonderful games, and all improved on Switch/Switch 2. A screen shot from any of these leaves XBox Execs crying in their Excel spreadsheets.

Mario Chase in Nintendoland on Wii U led to some of the absolute best party game nights I’ve had with friends.

The Luigi's Mansion game is incredible as well and a great evolution of the excellent Pac Man multiplayer game on GameCube.

I poured hours into Xenoblade Chronicles X. Story was naff but exploring that world was so much fun. It was like breath of the wild with a massive open world where they didn't put any limitations on the player where they could go. I even remember one of the islands you were meant to unlock when you got a Mech late game and could fly there but if you swam to the island, which took about an hour, the game didn't stop you and even rewarded you with a fast travel point when you got to the beach.

This is ridiculous, apparently you need 2 accounts with PS Plus to play split screen co-op in the PS5 version of Halo.
