Clearly, the Trump-Netanyahu relationship has fallen through the floor and is probably irreparable. Not entirely obvious that the Israeli opposition could do much to fix it…..they are as hawkish and right wing as Netanyahu.

A Khamenei who by all accounts has managed to strengthen control over the country. Protests have been squashed and people have seen that there is no help coming.

I don't turn on Sky News much these days but how is Hegseth taking this humiliation? He was all gung-ho a few months ago and "growing his brand" with childish press conferences etc. When I heard he has tattoos celebrating the Crusades, I knew we were dealing with a chump. Have his wings been clipped? is his rhetoric still bullish?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Well, no I don't think the Iranian regime were on their knees. But, most definitely, they were damaged somewhat by the protests that took place in the country and I'd say they were fearful of where that might have gone in the near future.

Netanyahu and Trump's stupid and unnecessary war has only strengthened the regime though. Nothing galvanises a people like getting murdered by a foreign entity who's only interested in what they can take from you, regardless of how much you hate your own government.

I have to laugh at the reference to 'their allies….including in Lebanon'. Israel, as reported earlier, not even mentioned by name. I suppose Netanyahu can say he's no longer an 'ally' and not bound by it.

The rest is tosh - the same Iranian commitment as in 2015, and everything else postponed for 60 days, with carrots for Iran in the form of sanctions lifted and $300 billion, though I suspect this will never happen as there'll be no final agreement. But they seem to get some frozen assets upfront plus sanction waivers on their oil.

I'd wait and see if anything meaningful happens first. Trump's little outbursts don't really mean anything. He could be besties again next week.

Signing on Friday.....Israel will do everything it can to stop the deal. It wants to continue its reign of terror and death.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

Aragh Jaysus...We've gone from weeks away to fast track in 60 days. Israel are afraid that they cannot murder more people needlessly.

I was thinking of starting my own nuclear program, can't be that hard.

Have you shared your insider knowledge with US intelligence? It might be news to them given their recent assessment was that Iran was not developing a nuclear weapon. Also Donnie told us iran's nuclear program was destroyed last June. You better inform him too that Iran will use the 60 days to fast track to nukes. Whoever is giving you this information will be pissed you shared it on boards

Did Hezbollah agree to a ceasefire?

LOL, if anyone is seriously suggesting that the USA cutting off Israel will lead to peace, they're either naive enough to buy the Brooklyn bridge, or they're trying to sell it.

Reports the US is to reduce the number of its refuelling aircraft at Ben Gurion airport by 20%.

The presence of 72 aircraft is causing a parking shortage, threatening to severely limit flight operations of commercial airlines at Israel’s main international gateway, ahead of the peak summer holiday months.

Where they are being relocated to is not yet clear.

    @engineerws,

I was talking about the powerful Pro Israeli pressure groups. - and I referenced special interest groups, (who might be Christians / other) etc.

    I WROTE (verbatim): ⬇️

“My concerns are Congress won’t cut Netanyahu off. Their (politicians including Democrats!!) campaigns are funded by the Jews (i.e., just about everyone from AIPAC, special interest groups, wealthy individuals…). These Jews have worked to get leverage for years - they have influence. You would have heard 'the US is in service of a foreign power'. Congress will threaten to bring down the economy - the stock market - their investments - everyone will turn on Trump - exerting their influence - money.… Of course, old money will be able to weather the storm - gold and diamonds, property, arms, military might - people own armies. “ [...]

This is what engineerws wrote (unedited) to me: ⬇️

“Trump seems to be owned by Israel. Maybe something in the Epstein files or something else (his children?)

“Israel was in a quagmire, now they can reload and blame Trump and Trump can blame Netanyahu. Then after the mid terms they can resume killing school girls.

^^^ I didn’t contradict anything you wrote above. I simply fleshed out my own reply to each of your points.

I think American Jews, looking at polls and observing their views on Israel, are actually deeply divided on Netanyahu. Many of the human rights groups like Human Rights Watch were founded by Jews and criticise Israel, as does the NY Times which is owned by Sulzberger. However the AIPAC funding billionaires support what Netanyahu is doing.

The Democrats in Congress, while having more critics of Israel than in the past eg Rep Madeleine Dean, Ilhan Omar, Senator Bernie Sanders seem overall to continue being a rubber stamp for AIPAC.

I’ll never forget Jewish Voice for Peace peaceful protesters who staged a "sit-in" (civil disobedience) at the Statue of Liberty, in early November 2023. All 500 were wearing black tee-shirts - “Not in Our Name”. They unfurled banners asking for a ceasefire now in Gaza; “Never Again for Anyone”. After 25 minutes or so, they quietly boarded the ferry back to Manhattan. It went viral. The activists were distraught that over 4,000 Gaza children had been killed with US BOMBS, US FUNDING…

Ozymandius, it will be interesting to see what happens with US Congress advancing a proposal to deepen military integration between US and Israel - “United States-Israel Defence Technology Cooperation Initiative" (Section 224).

Al Jazeera’s international affairs journo Caolan Magee explains why this matters for the broader US national security strategy. Caolan breaks it down for us:

The Bloomberg version released, which looks a bit more substantial. Iranian tankers also left the strait overnight for the first time.

An epic miscalculation but could of been a lot worse if no deal was achieved, just a shame they rejected the Omani deal which was on the table on the 27th of February which was said by those involved to be better than the JCPOA, but obviously that was in the past and a lot has happened since then.

A lot of good can come out of it still for everyone and Trump can sell some of it as a success of sorts. If it kicks off again i doubt another one will be possible.

Thinking that this conflict has anything to do with iranian nuclear weapons is the clearest signal that the poster has no clue what they're talking about.

This was never about Nukes. Israel and America thought Irans regime was vulnerable and tried to impose regime change and it has backfired massive.

Israel also wanted to distract from the ongoing genocide in Gaza and expand their borders into Lebanon.

The Omani mediator was quite disgusted that the warmongers attacked Iran the next day. He said they had made great progress on that replacement deal and it was a good deal. Netanyahu led Trump by the nose into a pointless and costly war. We'll all know how stupid that decision was when we go to buy heating oil in October. Watch what happens as a result of the supply shock.

If Trump can stand up to those crazies back home he could come out of this looking quite well you know. He could unintentionally end up given credit for solving quite a lot of difficult problems.

I can see him heading off to Pyongyang shortly, that's another easy one given Chairman Kim's softening attitude to the South, they are still officially at war those two.

Could all turn to **** as well like.

The problems he might “solve” wouldn’t have happened had he not started this war in the first place. This is more of a surrender from Trump than anything.

A total betrayal of diplomacy that was. At least they have been rewarded with a 50% share in the new waterway business for their efforts. Should be a nice little earner that.

From the mediator's account, the Iranians had actually made loads of concessions. That freaked Netanyahu out because he definitely wanted war and he launched an attack without telling the US.

A senior Israeli military correspondent Alon Ben David said that through the deal reached with the US, Iran could become "the region’s most influential power."

He said the agreement marks a "dramatic day for all Israelis" as he explained that Iran will now be able to receive billions of dollars from oil export and is now a regime "more vengeful than its predecessor".

The Zionists aren’t happy they’ll do all they can to sabotage this deal now.

Trump in his meeting with Egypt's leader said something like " if i did not make a deal that strait would never have opened and the world would gone into a depression "

Then he says he may do something that will achieve exactly what he wants to avoid.

I rarely agree with your posts in general, but it's good to see someone call out the obvious anti-semitism there. You're 100% correct there. TY
