it’s the most rain I’ve experienced in Dublin in 5 weeks, it is giving me 2012 vibes too

It turned out a grand day in Wicklow given the forecast was wet but the rain has truly set in now, and it's blustery enough too. You would be forgiven for thinking it was an October evening out there. I really hope things take up as forecast in the second half of the month. When it's like this outside it definitely brings my mood down considerably and I yearn for the proper summer of continental Europe. It just constantly reinforces my plan to retire somewhere there eventually.

We had 2 days of sun last week and there was mass hysteria from George Lee on RTE with the climate change bs

Well a cool and wet and windy Summer so far in this part of the world. Early days but it's fairly depressing.

The rain has passed over us here in north Longford, we are left npw with a mizzle and grey skys. Hopefully it will get better as the day goes on. Have some fencing and cattle to move today. Nothing strenuous, but wellies a must.

Brighter drier weather has arrived here in the west. Mix of cloud/sunny spells

not a nice day here in Meath, fairly heavy rain, much heavier than what looks on the radar.

you spoke too soon. Today is a rotten day here in Dublin.

aside from yesterday which was a bit of a pet day, this June has been thrash so far, the next week does not look good. A warm up is likely in the second half of the month but settled high pressure is not guaranteed but I remain hopeful that the second half of June or final week will see something more like summer.

Lashing in Celbridge, but there was a dry window late morning. Yesterday was a lot better than I'd hoped though, and it was a relief from the week of downpours and got the grass cut. Casement on 40mm rain for June so far, same as April/May combined - but hopefully not a repeat of last year to come, with 115 mm in June and 96 mm in July, which I feel was even an underrepresentation of areas nearby. So much flooding and roof leaks locally last summer, we can do without that again.

As bad as any “summer” day I remember in the capital. Horrendous out there. You wouldn’t think it was nearly as bad looking at the radar. Hopefully the rain won’t last much longer.

So we got lucky, rain cleared here in NCD and I rushed the kids out the door and off to park.

We got a nice walk in and then the heavens opened( just as the kida got ice creams) so we sheltered under the trees and it was relentless. Anyway once ice creams were done it was home( I was devesated we had to skip the playground😉)Even with raincoats on we got soaked just walking back to car.

Wrapped up here at home in our dry clothes.

    Summer in Ireland😂

Damp day. Drizzle at times. Calm.

@acequion I think there is a nice break to be had, no matter where you go in Ireland. Positives are easy travel, no bag restrictions other than what you can fit in your car. I also think that standards of accommodation are generally higher than most places, although expensive enough.

Negatives are obviously the risk of bad weather days, eating and drink are more expensive than most destinations as well.

Would I do it again? Yes, absolutely. But being honest I prefer going abroad for the weather, different culture and beautiful town squares, churches, museums. Sadly, Irish cities are poor at creating pedestrian friendly areas for getting together in evenings.

It was that hideous heavy drizzle that absolutely soaks you instantly if you are out and about.

Mass hysteria from George Lee or not, Climate change BS? Spring 2026 came in 3rd warmest spring on record for Ireland. Warmest spring on record for England.

We got lucky in south Kerry this afternoon. Hours of sunshine and blue skies, I even had a lovely swim. Derrynane Festival is on this weekend, we got washed out yesterday but today was brilliant for everyone. Tomorrow could be wet, but "two out of three ain't bad".

Started the day with a mediocre parkrun in drizzle. Played golf this afternoon and the weather improved throughout the round. It was positively sunny and warm for the last few holes. Out walking the dog now and it's back to drizzle. 30,000 steps all the same.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?
