    Isle of Man next

The overhang of cloud had been on us in the east and southeast all day

There must be some strike total at this stage

Thunder here in Kildare with Massive drops of rain

My lightning detector in Cobh saw 193 strikes today.

Number was probably much higher but given that its only ever seen 1 or 2 (and the laser printer sets it off), its two orders of magnitude higher than I've ever seen it.

A short sharp downpour here in South West Dublin, monster rain drops

Some stunning cloud scapes being illuminated by the setting sun in D9.

Seems a few small cells have kicked off over land now. One is hitting Howth, the one I can see well.

Also just started big drop raining here too.

Storms trying to pop up in Dublin, sporadic showers, see if any of them can tap into that instability aloft.

Maybe we're in for a unexpected night show if more cells pop up next few hours. We will see...

Bu sheer coincidence I was just on windy.com and saw all of the lightning on the weather radar over in Holyhead and surrounding areas and some in Naas here too according to it.

I then came to check boards for something unrelated and saw this thread on the front page.

    Is summer over? /j

Storm developing near Naas, might be the start for the E coast. Hoping I get a distant visual of this one if it produces a few flashes

The thunderstorm over Limerick this afternoon was the longest sustained bout of thunder I can recall.
1985 was certainly far longer but it's not one I remember.
Call it a combo of my being a child at the time or most likely that I was under a blanket in Lahinch 🤣

Fork Lightning over Naas a few minutes ago with an impressive downpour

Was down on Portrane beach earlier hoping to either see something at sea towards Anglesey or IOM, but nada. The offshore visibility wasn't good enough. This despite the online lightning map pinging near constantly from strikes detected in both locations. At least I got a decent sunset

Picture of how todays weather unfolded so far ( hasn't the Nass sferics from a short time ago ). That is some cell running up the Irish sea.

The NE in with a chance of storms overnight /early morning.

Biggest storm in Ireland in Cork in some years, for sure. Just got lucky with its positioning - Met Eireann had forecast it but had it further west than what actually happened.

Now it's dark, from Greystones, I can see regular lightning flashes all the way across the Irish Sea from storms over Wales. Must be pretty serious strikes to be able to see the individual strikes from here!

Lightning map picked up a sferic in south Dublin jjust there with those showers. Maybe Dublin will get something after all. I can't see lightning at all with the activity NW of town where I'm at, D12

Seen a few strikes from Sandymount strand, caught a few on camera behind Howth. There seems to be quite a few that aren't being picked up on blitz, met & others…

Just seen a few flashes from the Dunloughlin storm, nice to see after quite a while in my area which hasn't had great luck with thunderstorms

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 leprechauntimmer123

The occasional intracloud flash every now then with this one, this is slow moving so I'll get a bit of time with it.
