Musk has lost his case against OpenAI/Sam Altman, mostly just because he waited too long to sue.

He's likely to appeal, so see where it goes from there, but still, delighted for him. Not happy OpenAI won because f*ck AI, but currently happier that Musk lost because f*ck him even more.

Yeah, **** Musk. Never mind the merits of the case, **** him.

I'm pretty fine with a scenario that negatively impacts either Altman or Musk... So honestly, unconcerned with the plight of the billionaire Nazi...

You could argue that Musk was screwed over, most likely the merit working against him was that for all his talk about safety and non-profit he is now a competitor with his own pedo bot AI model.

The merits of the case didn’t matter when he called that cave rescuer a paedo. What’s good for the goose, and all that.

Pity they both can't lose. Still, we'll take it.

Turns out SoaceX isn't half as lucrative financially as originally assumed.

The white, British director whose films have almost all had predominantly white main-character casts, cast a black woman in his new film which has a predominantly white main-character cast, and gets labelled an anti-white racist?

He's a weird one. Like, he doesn't seem to enjoy anything or have any hobbies. Everything just seems to be about the culture war with him. He has no personality beyond that.

Hes always been like that. I know a couple of people who were in school with him. Seems he regularly got the shìt kicked out of him for being an asshole. Commenting on kids parents marriage breakdowns and the like. Seemingly hes been an asshole forever.

That level of wealth and continually burns everyone around him.

All the wealth in the world doesn't make this man enjoy life.

If Books Could Kill goes over his biography from a few years back. The true stories are awful. The made up ones are all kinds of ridiculous ****. Claimed that kids died at the military school he went to, claimed to see murders at anti apartheid concerts he went to. He's a pretty messed up fabulist which would explain why he so often pushes nonsensical conspiracy theories.

His hobbies are cosplaying as an engineer and pretending he's good at computer games. Normal stuff.

Hes an antagonist. Its what makes him tick. Hes lucky he can pay for body guards now or he'd still be getting the shìt kicked out of him. He even has the gall to cry about the treatment he got on school when he should have got 10 times worse.

If you were closing in on becoming a trillionaire, most people would do anything other than what Musk is doing. He doesn't have the wit or nous to be anything else but a sad bastard troll on a shitty social media platform and cozying up to other failed attempts at humanity like Donald Trump, while actively destroying all the good will that millions were willing to give him a number of years ago.

You have all this wealth and power at your fingertips and the ability to leave one fantastic legacy.

But what he'll be remembered for is being a wanker.

    Pathetic really.

I just listened to Hugh Linehan describe Bluesky subscribers who jumped ship from Twitter as like being “stuck in a cabin” with each other.”

His interviewee Helen Lewis (a little more unkindly) described it as like being under the Chernobyl concrete containment dome and that being a good thing, because their extreme views aren’t leaking out to the wider political sphere as much as they used to. lol.

I might add there was a few things they touched on that I didn't agree with, but that's not for here.

In fairness, I've glanced at the state of Twitter these days and it's a cesspit. Personally I've pretty much left social media but I definitely wouldn't be choosing to engage with Twitter ever again.

As opposed to being stuck in twitter consuming military levels of automated bile ? Who wants to live like that.

If you could describe twitter to someone it would be the pink slime in Ghostbusters that lived off the negative vomit of the world.

Horrible place and should have been shut down by the EU years ago, it's the source of much of the political mess that's invested the globe.

I don't get why there are accusations that Bluesky is just an echo chamber when there is no obligation on people to use social media where you must be regularly exposed to different views or be challenged and have to defend everything you say. Not everyone uses social media for those purposes (and I'd say most who do have little else to be at).

It's not like Boards which is an actual discussion forum. Some people just use social media to get information/news, engage with things they like and with like-minded people, and don't want to deal with arguments and pedantry and abuse.

Personally I left Twitter because of Musk, and while I'm on Bluesky now, I use it in the same way I used Twitter; I follow accounts I like and never post or engage in anything on the site.

Parts of it are, but you can easily avoid them if you want. I'm sure you already knew that though.

That's the real agenda here. Posters are saying they don't like and won't use it, which is all fine really. Wanting it shutdown is stopping other people from using it. Saying the quiet part loud really.

It's just more bad faith nonsense, I suspect. The same people who champion free speech will accuse other people of censorship for airing views they don't like.

Do you like Bluesky? I'm tempted to sign up but I don't really like social media. I did have some fun exchanges on Twitter, as it was back then. I left because I had no interest in Elon's AI CSAM factory.

Yep, I was happy enough with pre-algorithm social media, following friends or accounts that I have an interest in. I have no desire to have a company show me posts that drive engagement, especially a company run by someone as morally bankrupt as Musk.

I like Bluesky in that I've managed to follow accounts I like, and the format and interface is pretty much the same as old Twitter. That said a lot of people or accounts I followed on Twitter haven't made it over to Bluesky (many of them just abandoned that type of format and stick to Instagram), and as I said I don't post or reply to anything, so I have no idea what it's like when you post about current affairs/politics and what the response is like. I just use it for news, updates and certain accounts.

So it's not as good as Twitter pre-Musk, but it's a lot better than what Twitter has become (and I put up with a lot of sh*te on Twitter after Musk took over, but the Grok/CSAM was the last straw).
