I just checked the small print the free three months applies to all SIM's on the account, I've just signed the missus up recently, it's worth €90 to me.

This might be a stupid question, but why can you not get this offer via your NBI fibre line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,728 ✭✭✭NotShero

It's presumably just to keep costs down. GoMo (eir) would have to pay NBI a certain fee, whereas eir mostly own open eir themselves along with InfraVia (Fibre Networks Ireland) afaik.

So would it be safe to assume that it will never be offered to NBI customers?

I don't see them offering it anytime soon anyway. But hopefully this should be good for competition in general, other providers might offer something similar in the future.

I signed up last night, router is due tomorrow it's to go live on Friday morning. Yes, I'll have to pay Pure their blood money but in the long run I never have to worry about BB again and everything is on the one bill.

    Thanks.

Ups! Of course I should have said WiFi 7! Have a WiFi 7 compatable phone waiting to be unleashed ;-)

I already use my own WiFi 6 Asus router (RT-AX88U Pro) in place of the providers. It worked really well plugged directly into the Eir ONT for the year. I didn't even use the Eir router. Put it back in its box as soon and the engineer left for the install.

Ah okay! I doubt they'll provide the WiFi 7 Sagemcom Box W7 anytime soon as they still provide the F3500 to 500Mb/1Gb customers on eir.

Will I be able to set up voice calling on GoMo broadband? And would it be able to make and receive calls from landlines?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,728 ✭✭✭NotShero

GoMo broadband doesn't offer a VoIP service themselves, no.

Digiweb, Pure Telecom, eir, Virgin Media, Sky can offer a VoIP service with their broadband.

OK thanks. May need to look into retaining the land line. Mobile reception is not good in the house.

    can’t you use WiFi calling?

Are the login details the same as Eir? I'm panicking here as the switchover is due to happen tomorrow but no sign of the router. I tried changing the switchover date but it's locked in. It's supposed to be delivered by DPD but no word from them, I usually get loads of texts and emails from them if they have a delivery pending. My backup plan is to keep using the Pure router and change the login to Gomo, I've been all over the site but can't see the login details anywhere. I hope this isn't going to be a shyt show…

Does anyone know is there's a common billing date for everyone? Or does it depend on your start date?

    Thinking of signing up.

But trying to avoid a situation whereby I have to pay 2 months in quick succession.

I'd assume they are the same as eir. The Pure Telecom router may just continue working, with some providers it doesn't seem to matter what's entered for the username and password.

IPoE/DHCP can be used instead of PPPoE

    VLAN ID 10

If you want to use PPPoE -

    Username - eir@eir.ie / eircom@eircom.net

    Password - broadband1

You could also look at getting a standalone VOIP service (with some you can port an existing number). Additional cost on top of your fibre but likely still a lot cheaper than retaining a copper landline, especially for light use.

Hopefully it'll keep working if not I'll do what you've suggested, many thanks for your help.

    Yes, looking at voiptel https://voiptel.ie/

They seem to be the only stand-alone consumer operator in Ireland per comreg.

    €10 per month for life.

My brother uses this VoIP service via Starlink, since mid 2023. The supplied ATA allows it to connect to the existing internal telephone wiring and sockets.

Ported over their old landline number.

    No issues.

It won't be SIRO for GoMo. Another fibre cable and ONT will need to be installed, if you haven't had a provider through open eir before. You'd have to request GoMo to cancel your current provider or cancel it yourself.

In relation to new gomo mobile users, looks like 12.99 per month option gone or only available during special offers. 14.99 so basically 15 euro a month for new mobile customers.

"Contracts entered from 15th January 2020 to 8th April 2021 inclusive and from 17th Nov 2025 to 1st Dec 2025 inclusive and 11th Dec 2025 to 22nd Dec 2025 inclusive and 10th Feb 2026 to 23rd Feb 2026 inclusive and 19th Mar 2026 and 30th Mar 2026 inclusive will retain a €12.99 monthly price for life."

So looks like discounts are gone and prices are up for mobile. I may just renegotiate with existing home broadband supplier. Pure telecom are 30/35/40 month for ADSL/fibre without needing a linked sim plan.

I still think 15 for mobile and 30 for top class reliable BB for life is fantastic, that's me and the missus finished worrying about mobile plan increases and me looking for a new BB in 12 months time. I love fixed prices.

Can you switch from say Vodafone an be classified as a new customer?

balls can't get it as it's not on the nbi network

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭feargantae

Yes, switching from any provider other than GoMo would be classed as a new sign up. Even eir customers are classified as new customers.

Router arrived this morning, I set it up as Pure will come crying for their router, all is brilliant, pages definitely load a lot faster I'm delighted with it.

I'm currently with Virgin and checked to see if GOMO was available at my eircode, and it is.
I don't have an Eir ONT at my house (only the old eir landline phone cable from the street to my hall). I take it I would not be able to self-install, so would require a Tech visit?
