Are you being serious or having a laugh?

We all saw what Rowling and others did in real time during the Olympics

I remember a couple of tweets but harassement is much more than that.

It also has to said that Khelif wasn't being fully truthful during the Olympics. They've come out since and said they were suppressing testosterone during the competition and some of the competitions leading up to it. Women don't have to suppress testosterone.

Its amazing they can identify JK rowling being harassed in the same way online but cant recognise Jk rowling doing the same. Calling the boxer a man that enjoys beating up women.

If someone with a large following starts attacking another person online they know damn well their followers will do the same. The effect is even more pronounced when the person had millions of followers.

The fact that Khelif is/was male/female/trans/non binary is irrelevant to the fact that Rowling and others put a MASSIVE target on her back and brought an onslaught of hate/bullying/threats/harassment down upon some random athlete at the Olympics.

So posters here can spare us their bullsh*t sanctimonious calls to condemn threats of rape, torture, violence against Rowling.

Just so I don't give anyone an excuse,
I wholeheartedly condemn the threats of rape, torture, violence against Rowling and anyone that is on either side of the Trans debate writ large.

These targets keep getting bigger, Emma had a giant one now this boxer's is MASSIVE.

She correctly pointed out Khelif was cheating as it was revealed their were doubts about her sex status revealed prior to the Olympics and they weren't cleared up

I assume you put Paul Kimmage in the same category as Rowling for his "harassment" of Lance Armstrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 917 ✭✭✭maik3n

So I take it you wont be condemning the hate/bullying/threats/harassment of Khelif then?
    Quelle surprise!!!!!

Not that I should really be entertaining your ''joke'' but when you have Elon Musk tweeting about you from his platform, then Yes, it would kind of put a MASSIVE target on your back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Ah yeah I think you will find kimmage didn't claim Armstrong enjoys beating up women. Its like people don't recognise what online bullying if they are stuck in the cult of personality.well unless it is JK being harassed.

All JK had to was say the boxer should be investigated not start a witch hunt.

Khelif put a massive target on herself when she ignored a failed eligibility test and never mentioned that she was supressing testosterone. When you're competing in the women's category then your sex is very relevant.

In men's sport if someone had failed such a serious test and continued competing they would have the same level of criticism thrown at them.

I disagree with what I saw from Rowling and think she could have worded it better but the fault for what happened was down to Khelif and the IOC.

Imane Khelif has post the Olympics been confirmed as a man with a DSD, wrongly identified as a female at birth. Khelif was almost certainly aware of their actual sex by the time they competed at the Olympics (I don't think a female muslim boxer from a conservative muslim country would sit on the shoulders of their male team as they celebrate a win as Khelif did). They chose to participate at the Olympics despite the doubts about their true sex. The ultimate blame lies at the IOC, as they accepted the sex specified on a boxer's passport as sufficient, which would have allowed any male who identified as female in a country which allowed changes to gender/sex on a passport to participate in the women's tournament.

I still think Imane Khelif is morally culpable however. A male person, as he undoubtedly knew he was by that stage in his development, should not be participating in the women's category of boxing. Not only is it grossly unfair, it is incredibly dangerous, due to the marked differences in strength, stamina and muscle mass between men and women. We wouldn't accept heavyweights fighting in a bantam weight, we wouldn't accept 18 year olds fighting in an under 12s competition, we should not under any circumstances accept natal males fighting or competing against natal females once puberty has been reached.

As late as 2018 Linehan was praising the singer Lorde for cancelling a concert in Israel as illustrated below.

His turn towards Israel and then towards defending genocide by Israel almost certainly wouldn't have happened without the anti-trans cult rotting his brain first. The anti-trans cult is an extremely reliable gateway drug to full suite far right brain rot.

Once you become a fanatical hater of one of the most marginalised, vulnerable groups of people in society, a group very few are willing to properly speak up for, it's a very, very short hop to defending fascist slaughter.

People basically never become brain rotted but only on one topic. Like, you don't really get people who are anti-vaccine head the balls but have well thought out views about the climate crisis. Brain rot is very much an all pervasive thing.

I have not seen any evidence that she is, in fact male. There was a failed test by the IBA who were expelled by the IOC for corruption and governance issues, which raises questions in their ability to perform testing with transparency. The fact that a leak is the only source of information also raises questions when the IBC have never released full lab reports or testing methodology (to my knowledge).

A woman with DSD is not the same as male. Accusing her of knowingly deceiving people, or referring to her as “undoubtedly male" is purely speculation.

Anyway, there's already an active thread covering transgender people in sports, where Khelif has been discussed a number of times. This thread is about Graham Linehan.

Rowling did the same to Kevin Myers. That's the power of social media. Maybe Myers deserved it but Sturgeon definitely did.

There's something very sad and pathetic about failed politicians blaming other people rather than their own policies, for their demise.

I was wondering if Linehan has changed his mind on Israel. I suspected he might have but hadn't seen any proof. So, that's interesting.

Rather than "the anti-trans cult rotting his brain first" 🙄 I think it's a good example of tribalism caused by isolation after being cancelled and spending too much time online because of that. Some of his most vocal supporters (online) hold strong pro-Israel views and it has rubbed off on him. Probably the move to the US has influenced it as well.

It gets more revealing when you consider that Rowling ignored an actual rapist sent by the Netherlands so she could torment Khelif. It's always about hate with these people.

What do you mean she ignored a rapist.

You will need to provide more context to what you are talking about.

Do you need a twitter account to see it, all I see is a black screen.

I am sure there are tweets I just don't see anything.

I don't use Twitter so could be doing something silly.

She didn't say a word about him which is the point.

Because she is expected to comment on every abusive male in every setting?

Not just the ones that are allowed into spaces where women can feel extremely vulnerable, try as you might to conflate the two its not going to work out, Rowling like every other rational person will abhor rape and violence of any kind, not commenting is not condoning what someone does or you could push the boundaries and try to insinuate that anyone that has not commented on Judge Martin Nolans abuse cases actually condones abuse, thats the road ye are travelling and it is very cult like as a poster said above, his/her lack of self awareness in calling others cult like is astounding.

    Cute.

She was raving about Khelif so she was already following the Olympics, a highly prestigious international event, to some degree. The fact is that she was happy to out of her way to harass a woman while ignoring an actual child rapist tells me everything about her true agenda. It's very simple.

In the olympics she is accused of bullying someone just suspected of doing something wrong while totally ignoring the other controversy in the same Olympics of a certified creep to a underage girl. She just seems lazer focused on trans or suspected trans people sometimes.

A 'sin of omission', brings me back to my childhood.

Is being cancelled the new hell?

Think I'm starting to understand this cult of unsocial media.

Weirdly not seeing the same objections from you that Linehan is trying to get someone fired on the back of a false allegation of anti semitism..

I think it's a good example of tribalism caused by isolation after being cancelled and spending too much time online because of that.

I think it's a very calculated move tbh.

When you see how much he's dug his heels in to "prove" he's right on the trans issue, it seems unlikely he'd see the light and admit he got it wrong on Israel/Palestine. I think he is cosying up to a very particular audience and the painting of Ireland as an anti-Semitic country will play very well with that audience.

The man is an absolute disgrace and I hope his advocates on this thread might finally see him for what he is. Whether they can admit it or not is another question.
