True, Posters here and half the county can see the issues in relation to kick outs, defending and attacking but the manager keeps going out every game with the same sytem of play which isnt working and that says alot about him.

Every game its the same system i would love to see a stat on the landing area of our kickouts during the league and into the championship.

Well said @Cavan_King. The unvarnished truth hit's like a p_ss missile in the eye. Let's not be plebs about it.

Was in Clones at the weekend and couldn’t believe the lack of crowd. No atmosphere at the matches at all. The club leagues are a poor standard right now. The County Board seems to be run by people who have little to no football background. Outside the big four clubs, most teams are turning over new squads every 3–4 years, and there’s no clear roadmap for developing players to a higher level. On top of that, building a fancy new stand in Breffni doesn’t make any sense when the basics are being neglected. Surprised how muted everyone is on here. Feels like people dont care.

Serious questions need to be asked.

This is an anonymous messaging board. I’m not sure what difference you think anyone here is going to make. I’ve outlined previously why the club delegates are afraid to question the dictatorship. WAC have also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 612 ✭✭✭Thunderbirds

The poster could bring it up to his club's executive and get their delegates to ask a question.

It will have to come to a head at some stage when that will be who knows probably after a couple of relegations unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

Like the underage has “come to a head” after over a decade of under performance?

We’ve now given the keys to the man who lead that. He controls every team from U15 to senior.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,000 ✭✭✭celt262

I'm talking about Seniors it will come to a head at some stage if he doesn't walk before hand. Its not a job for life like the underage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

I expect our GDM to rival Kieran McGeeney for length of tenure. I would be very surprised if he would ever walk. As with the underage structures, it’ll be everyone’s else’s fault and the board will back him.

An unlikely scenario of results needed but our All Ireland series place. Will be in jeopardy if westmeath and Down win their semis

Funny thing is now that the provincial finalists that we potentially could meet in the all Ireland series bar 2 or 3 wouldn't be too bad

We'll they've hired the fall guy and new structures can be blamed on clubs and seperate committee. Was in different places chatting to people about football and everyone is fed up of current situation. Need gaa members to push their executive and delegates to ask questions.

I found it hard Watching Down and Roscommon over the weekend, these are counties we would consider ourselves in the same bracket as over the years. They are both two extremely well coached and exciting teams.. Sit back and watch the way Down play, they tackle and defend like dogs and they are just blistering going forward. Compare that to the absolute rubbish we have been watching all year?

If we are to lose our two championship games this summer that will be an overall record of 2 wins from 12 games in all competitions for McCabe. Will that statistically make him the worst Cavan manager ever? Even Tommy Carr picked up a few wins along the way.

    Leitrim maybe in Tailteann.

Can add in Westmeath last week as another team that found it hard to watch the way they attacked Meath, same as Down yesterday, none of this incredibly slow build up lateral passing muck we have seen from Cavan all year and I would include our u20's in that as the Bull's fingerprints all over what they were doing too. Down were so direct yesterday moving the ball at pace both through the hand and feet and deservingly got the win. If they can repeat that against Armagh they will run them very close.

Don't think I ever seen as much apathy about Cavan football, both county, club and underage as there is at the moment and it is down to one man and a spineless county board. Unfortunately there doesn't seem like the courage or want to do what is necessary to resolve it.

When RTE radio went over from the hurling to Letterkenny, the reporter said that there was no such excitement in the Donegal v Down game. He said it was more like a game of chess, with slow play and not many scores. It took time to warm up. Someone would need to see the full 70 minutes, not just a few minutes highlights to judge. Overall scores were not much different to Monaghan v Cavan.

"Down were in front on 16 minutes through Odhran Murdoch, Pat Havern and Daniel Guinness points. Oisin Gallen got Donegal level but by the 25th minute Down were 0-08 to 0-04 ahead with Havern, Adam Crimmons and Guinness again on target."

No club will ask questions. The ramifications for doing so have already been communicated to various clubs. Cavan GAA is not a democracy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 612 ✭✭✭Thunderbirds

This is not true. No communication has being sent to clubs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

Did I say it was formally communicated? It might be an idea to question your understanding of something before you jump in.

Clubs who have questioned the county board in any way have been contacted privately. I have raised it here previously and WAC did also in one of their recent pods. It was also outlined in the anonymous text earlier in the year.

Any thoughts from anyone on the League? I hear Killian Clarke is performing well at 6 for Shercock. Looks like they and Killygarry will be coming to Div 1.

Seems a very cowardly thing to not face up to the obvious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭large_palette

Using coercion to suppress any scrutiny from the clubs? That's a board prepared to sacrifice the greater good just to keep their cosy little order. Cowardice would be a kind term for that.

And surely it is the duty of all County board reps to make a better future for the young players out there and not to be safe in their own wee positions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

Some of the stuff going on is baffling. The senior ladies team playing Fermanagh tonight and a full round of U16 Ladies club fixtures on. It seems no board in Cavan can get the basics right.

The minors are doing well in spite of and not because of McCabe and the County Board…seen them a few times over the 2 years, and bar against Tyrone last year, were very competitive. Tyrone just looked a level above anything else in the country. They are organised and playing good stuff……possibly just lacking a bit of size

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 604 ✭✭✭mylestheslasher

Yes and it requires some courage and balls which seems to be sadly lacking in the majority of our clubs unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

They weren’t competitive against Tyrone this year either. I felt there was more in last year’s minors. O’Halloran is very conservative. They had some talented attacking players last year and his defensive style didn’t play to their strengths.

This year he is getting a good tune out of what is a weaker squad - it’s not easy relying on so many U16s in alot of games because the actual minor group was so terribly managed to this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 Naughty_Skelator

Minors well beaten again today, Are this minor management still the best thing since Sliced Bread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

He’s very conservative. In fairness to him, this year’s minor group are weak - they only won 1/2 games last year at U16 and took a fair few hammerings. They’ve been badly managed at dev squad level thanks to the “dads and lads” approach so the manager has had to use a lot of lads that are still U16.

I wasn’t at the last game vs Donegal but I was told it was similar to last year in that the good forwards they have were starved of possession because there isn’t any risk taken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Cavanlad23

Massive day tomorrow lads. Don't know what will bring about some changes quicker, stay in the All Ireland and risk meeting Kerry, Dublin, Galway or Roscommon and getting hammered or dropping down to the Tailteann and having lads go zonal and with McNulty 7 or 8 2 pointers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,782 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

We’d be better in Tailteann. Better chance for a few of the lads aiming for 100 caps to get extra games and walk away with their goal accomplished.
