I've seen both, shouldn't really matter either way as it's a caged terminal, so the whole cable gets clamped rather than a screw coming down onto the cable to secure it.

Would one of these work with a Fogstar 16kwh like this ? https://www.fogstar.co.uk/collections/solar-battery-storage/products/fogstar-energy-seplos-48v-16-1kwh-solar-battery

Does 'plug-and-play' mean what I would hope it does for this; you wheel the pack next to your hybrid inverter (Sofar in my case), connect whatever cables are needed between the two (I would guess one for the power itself and one for communications?) and then it is all set up, the inverter and the battery communicate without any more set up needed and the battery appears within my Solarman Smart app?

Or is it a tab more complicated than that? I just don't have the time or patience for any installation or DIY work, so either want a totally painfree solution or failing that, paying someone to do it for me!

I dont know to be honest. I 'm new to this myself.

Maybe @...Ghost... could tell you as he has a fair amount experience in this.

Deligreen says their batteries are compatible with Solis, Sofar etc. If the CAN supports it, then it should do with some minor settings. Depends on the Inverter model in how to access and set the correct settings. I asked ChatGBT this and it gave me a pdf answer that may help.

As I am new to this as well, there would be others on this forum that would be best able to guide you. Also A.I would give you most of those details.

There are lads that sell them and install them. Few of them listed on adverts for reasonable enough money if you want to wash your hands of it. I’ve put up a few YT videos which will show you what you need to do. If you run into problems and you’re local enough, I could probably help.

In my opinion, just put the inverter to use Voltage

The BMS will still manage the battery but most people will confirm that SOC from them can be just as crap as from the inverter.

You are better to discharge to xx volts rather than xx % as the % can drift

Did you get an expected delivery date - was it in stock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭Exiled Rebel

Deligreen received a delivery of batteries at the their warehouse in Poland on 1st April so deliveries to customers shouldn't be all that long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 845 ✭✭✭bunderoon

I believe it was in stock, nothing at checkout to say otherwise.

I only ordered last night so only have the receipt email that has a link to track the order.

Ordered a 125A Projoy DC MCB aswell from CT.

There was an error displaying this embed.

Allow 2 weeks from Poland, mine was part of that shipment from China, took 7 weeks. Very good whatsapp from them, let me know where it was. The tracking from the shipping company showed it was in Germany the day it was delivered🤣

if I want to charge my battery faster understand I can use a rectifier, does anyone have a recommendation? Do I just attach it to the battery terminals and add some sort of timer that matches my charge settings.

The DC MCB came the following day which was nice.

Yeah, I have whatsapped them just there as a friendly check-in as the order was only placed on the 19th and they say to wait about 5 days. But feck it, 1500e spent with them - no harm in sending them something now.

    @Fantana2 That's basically it.

To a point, you need to pick a voltage. I would suggest 56v or 57v

Huawei, Emerson and Eltek are all popular. You can get 2Kw, 3Kw and even 4Kw form about €50 upwards. Alibaba, Ebay, Alixpress.

I run a Huawei 3Kw and Eltek 2Kw on each of my installs.

If you run Home Assistant you can integrate most of them so you can both change and monitor.

    Thanks

I got whatsapps from them. Their current stock is sold out and the battery will arrive in Rotterdam in 4 weeks. So I assume 6 weeks aswell. First world problems.

Question on battery setup, does there need to be a breaker installed between the inverter and battery?

I was looking at this one on nkon, https://www.nkon.nl/en/bsl-battery-li-pro-styx-51-2v-16-07kwh-thuisbatterij.html

The instructions include a breaker, I havent seen this before. Is it just for this specific battery or should there always be one installed?

I got my solar installed Monday and a quick question. I asked Google Gemini but wanted to confirm, is it best to always charge batteries at night rate and export as much as possible during the day? Initially I had the Solis set to not charge from the grid at all, only get solar but someone said I'm better always exporting to the grid if possible since the night rate is 12.5c and feed in is 18.5.

So is that correct, would it be the same for my eletric car also? Always still charge it on the cheap night rate and let as much solar be exported as possible?

Just to mention its a 5.2kwh array and the battery is 10kwh dyness.

The money made on 12.5c v 18.5c is minimal enough when you account for losses?

Depends on how much battery you have to last you during the day.... The optimal tariff at the moment is Pinenergy and their EV rate... The EV rate is 6 cent and their export is 25 cent so there is a theoretical profit 20 cent!! But that doesn't take into account conversion losses so it's more like maybe 15 cent. Most of the people on here are on that but you need to be sure your battery can cover the rest of the day because the rest of the day is at 43cent!

The losses when charging from the grid then expiring later are about 10-15% basically you invert AC to DC to store in your battery then back again DC to AC to export to the grid. With your current tariff charging at 12 and exporting at 18 you are barely making any money..

Im not sure about your set up and the solis inverter is it DC coupled eg does it convert your solar directly from DC to DC to your battery off not the losses can be 15 to 20% because it goes DC from the PV to AC , the inverter then changes this back to DC to charge your battery then to get back out It's DC to AC again. That's why I'm my set up I don't charge my batteries from solar during the summer months to many losses.

My recommendation is get used to your system see what it can do and how it is affecting your house usage and see have you any surplus left to export

Thanks for that. Yeah so I was coming to the logical conclusion that the battery should not be charged from solar, and only charge at the night rate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,925 ✭✭✭ECO_Mental

Well it depends….during the winter months I charge from solar because I dont want to be importing at 43cent at the end of the day. Even though I have a 30 kWh battery most days I will end up charging from the grid, but if there is anybit of sunshine those few extra kWh from the PV into the battery are worth more offsetting the 43cent than getting 25cent FIT

During winter months my aim is to minamise my import and summer is to maximise profit to build up credit for the winter.

Actually looking at it again you have a Solis Hybrid inverter I presume, so that works by taking your DC solar PV and sending it directly to the DC battery so that is very efficent so I wouldnt worry too much. But still everytime you are converting from AC to Dc or in and out of the battery its going introduce losses.

My system is retrofit where I have just a simple Solis PV inveter so to get my PV into my battery I have to go through another Inveter charger.

I'm new to this and looking into buying a 16kWh battery + hybrid inverter to avail of EV rate during day.

I already have 5 panels and a 2kW inverter in the attic. No room for more panels but want to keep that setup as it is and install the battery and second inverter in my shed.

Am I right in thinking that I'm limited to a 4kW hybrid inverter to keep within NC6 requirements? I'd like to go higher if possible to meet house demand.

I’m Not really interested in exporting anything other than excess solar, can a higher power inverter be set not to export, or keep under the max allowed?

    Thanks

The overall max permitted under NC6 is specifically 25A - so approx 5.75kW.

So you could get a second hand 3.6 hybrid

What size is your biggest house draw. For the few times going over 3.6kW and using the grid, surely not a lot

Very true, a few daytime peaks over 3kW during the last month, usually oven and hob just after switched on. EV charging is overnight which won’t be drawing from the battery.

I’ll check options for 3.6, hadn’t thought of used. Thanks

PM me, have a second hand 3.6kw Hybrid that I will be putting up on Adverts.

I have a 5kWh Dyness battery and I am considering changing it or adding to it but space is a problem.

It would have to be a ready to go plug in and play battery as I'm disabled and not able to build one.

Any recommendations please? oh and what would my battery be worth?
