If its coming out of BOD maintenance good chance it will be fitted

As the fleet already has WIFI fitted the cabling etc is already there, its just a different box on the roof and a different controller. Much easier than the intial retro fit +10 years ago

Regarding Starlink, I was looking at the top of the fuselage of -EIN from the terminal yesterday. The old wifi radome is still in place, and you can see the 2 new Starlink antennae one at the front and one over the doors 3 area. I wonder if the redundant radome will stay in place on the 330s or will they be removed in time.

I think I read elsewhere that the old radome still serves other onboard comms systems such as satphone.

The old radome houses the starlink. The two new antenna are also for starlink but don’t transmit, they locate the next signal to be used. So the big radome provides WiFi but as it’s satellite based the system needs to switch to a new source reguraly, the new bumps are smaller antenna that catch the signal and transfer it to the large antenna before the previous signal drops. Hope I explained that in a readable manner lol

Edit: if you’ve ever used the current/old WiFi with EI you prob noticed intermittent periods during the flight, this was the antenna searching for the next satellite. The new bumps are to prevent that signal drop.

189 flights cancelled during the summer schedule? Is it lack of aircraft or staff causing this?

Aer Lingus has commenced operating its planned summer schedule. A number of recent cancellations have been required due to mandatory maintenance on aircraft, along with a limited number of schedule adjustments

The XLR's keep having hard landings which is impacting on fleet availability, I count 3 so far this year

A330 EI-EAV is en route TLS-DUB this evening as EIN2531, following its repaint and maintenance.

    189 sounds like a lot.
But thats approx 90 departures/returns over 5 months. (assuming May-Sept)

    Reduction of 3 TA a week = 60
    Reduction of 5 LHR rotations a week = 100

Here he is! Looks very fresh, wonder why it flew BOD-TLS? Extra maintenance or something like that?

Already has a mismatched engine cowling! Will fit right in with the rest.

That is post-repaint as everything was correct when it left CHR for BOD. Anyway, it should fly fine despite such an issue.

Flying from Raleigh on Thursday - I didn't realise it was the first week of the route. Fun times!

Anyone know when AerLingus generally announce their early 2027 flights from Shannon?

We're planning to go to Paris in January, but flights haven't been announced yet.

Think they have shifted their CDG flights to Dublin for this season , so may not look good for 2027

The service has tended to pause over the winter (for at least as long as the SNN/JFK winter suspension) - CDG re-started in mid-March this year. IIRC however, when they announced the new Tuesday CDG rotations a few weeks back, at the same time the Thursday and Sunday ones looked like they were going to be bookable year-round. I looked a few days ago after the announcement about shifting flights to Dublin, and the Tuesday ones had all gone ‘sold out’, but the others were still bookable. I have a couple of Thursday SNN/CDGs booked and have had no notification of changes - so far…

Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when it operates but season varies....departure from CDG is circa 11am Paris time so not useful if you want to get a days work in on that day unfortunately.

For Winter 2026, they have flights on Thursday and Sundays. It looks to finish on Jan 3rd. Nothing available after that.

I've been monitoring it for a while. Initially thought that they were only showing flights up to 11months in advance, but we're now 9 months away from Jan 2027

Want to bring the family to Euro Disney. The Thursday to Sunday flights suited us pretty well.

Will probably just go on the last available dates (Dec 31st and Jan 3rd) now. Not too much of a hinderance. Just a little earlier than originally planned

Aer Lingus A330-200 EI-GEY, i believe is it still part of the Aer Lingus fleet? I know it is currently parked up in France without engines, and the WIFI internet dome has been taken off. Originally it was due to return to active service with Aer Lingus from summer 2026 mostly for Dublin Toronto Dublin services. But with the Aer Lingus UK operation closing, Aer Lingus now had 2 extra A330-300s available to use on their routes network from Dublin. Toronto which would have been operated by A332 is now A333, and the second Washington flight will now be flown with A333 instead of A321neo. A332 EI-GEY most probably would have received the current Aer Lingus had it return to service as planned for summer 2026 as it's the only aircraft in the previous Aer Lingus livery. Does anybody have any new info on the plans for A332 EI-GEY?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,007 ✭✭✭HTCOne

It has no crew rest and the engines are currently on-wing on EI & IB A330s. With the return of the 2 MAN A333s combined with the current aviation crisis I'd say GEY will be scrapped.

Has ELA been re-registered into Irish reg yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭basill

Blaming "maintenance" but no details given. Cancelling planned cabin crew training courses and unclear on the status of the summer temp staff hires. Seems very fishy.

i am flying out to LAX in 2 weeks. Does anyone know if the A330-300’s on that route are already fitted with Starlink gear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Poland2020

Only on EI-EIN at the minute. It’s a West Coast aircraft(330 with Crew Rest) so a 1 in 6 chance of having it.
