And Laporte can genuinely win this anyway

(even if I think Pog will)

You could drop back for someone who could just puncture again or miss the big attack while chasing back. At this stage if you have a good position keep it.

This is immense from MVDP. Christ knows what he'll have left but he's utterly amazing.

Red Bull could have 4 riders at the front thanks to just following favourites.

the front group have basically sat up since wva got back on, theyve given away 40s in about 5k

That side camera of Pog and WvA was pretty class. Could really see the effort and the state of the road.

    So many punctures

Is it me or does pog look uncomfortable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,122 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

I wouldn't quite say uncomfortable but not necessarily particularly comfortable either.

Huge effort from Wout to stay on there. Can he survive another one.

It’s such a good race when someone isn’t alone for 60km

He doesn't have the bike handling for this race. He looks nervous by his standards.

Pog running out of options to be able to distance WVA. There's the uphill drag after the left turn on Carrefour, and the road drag about 3km from the finish where Cancellara attacked one year to win

I think WvA might gap him on one of the 5* sectors.

Surely one more big puncture/crash left in this race too.

There could be a lot of regrets with the two leaders if the group comes back together.

Cmon wout, dont break my heart again!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,393 ✭✭✭✭dahat

Wout needs to sit on now and trust his sprint i think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

This looks like WVAs to lose. Pog doing too much work

I think MvdP is done. He would have dropped his group if he was full on.

Still time for Ganna to get a six pack of sticky bottles and close the gap

This could come down to confidence now.

Hard to argue he doesn't deserve. Pogi will win it at some stage.

Delighted for Wout. It's been a long road back for him. He looked so strong all day and a richly deserved monument win.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 9,289 Mod ✭✭✭✭mewso

    Fantastic

Finally and done it with Van der Poel out on the road too.

Love Orla saying everyone was welling up as Sean Kelly stands there cold as stone.

That really didn't disappoint. Delighted for Wout. He just dedicated it to his teammate Michael Goolaerts who died in the 2018 PR just now in an interview on France TV
