Ferguson for a big lad gets pushed off the ball nearly every time as well.

Cool, yeah, that was just Gavin Comiskey totally misinterpreting the rules.

When you search the rule and look for the bits he quoted, that's all only relevent for players who've played up to 3 matches Under 21 ("at the time of being fielded in his last match in an official match in any kind of competition for his current association, he had not turned 21 years old").

Once you're over 21, it only takes one competitive appearance, which Cannon made against Finland.

Yes agreed. A useful player that the manager clearly believes is worth his place in the squad.

I think he has the ability to be more than that if he can add those other qualities to his game. I think it’s a mentality thing with him. He seems comfortable not being the main player. When he got the opportunity to be the main striker at Celtic he didn’t really grab the chance. At some stage he might step forward to be more than the useful back up guy.

I don't find it embarrassing at all.

It all depends on the player, his background and his attitude. Football is full of brilliant players who don't make it at their first clubs for example, many need more tome to develop and done their way or their roles, and carve our excellent careers for themselves. Most clubs in england would fold of they took the attitude of 'well, that lad wasn't good enough to get into the Man City XI at 19,so we're not going to sign him or use him.

It's childish to just cut off lads born outside the 26 counties and raised in a different system, just because they haven't been in the Irish system since they were 15. In some cases, they will be no use to us or will be motivated by something else, but depending on their attitude and where their heads are at,there is a huge resource to be tapped.

It has to be handles properly, and as I say depends on the lads attitude, frame of mind and willingness to muck in,but this is supposed to be elite , professional sport,so it should be treated as such -sentiment should not rule out common sense.

Jacob Devaney is a lad I hope HH gives a chance to in May with a call up. Turns 19 in the summer but a regular starter for St Mirren since joining in January on loan. St Mirren fans talk very positively about him especially his ability to stay calm on the ball and retaining possession while under pressure in midfield.

Plays in a position we're short in and not like we have a WC to prepare for so at least have him in camp when we travel to Spain for training.

He really doesn't. If anything, he's the complete opposite. He shoves people out of the way.

Its genuinely one of the reasons I get excited about this team into the near future. Him and Parrot are such different players, it will give us actual options up front.

I would cap him as soon as possible but he might hold out for an England cap.

Very young yet but definitely highly rated.

It'll be interesting to see where he goes next season.

He does for Ireland, gives it away way too easily.

He could but if there's one area of the pitch where England are actually stacked to the brim with top class talent it's CM. Their winning U21 Euros team last summer contained Alex Scott and possible £100M midfielder Elliot Anderson as starters.

Hayden Hackney, Archie Gray, and Tyler Morton were on the bench for them. Jobe Bellingham pulled out of that squad to focus on Dortmund after the move. That team could also have included Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton. Wharton and Mainoo are still eligible for the current U21s along with Gray. Lewis Miley whose into his third season in the PL is third choice for their current midfield being Bellingham and Gray.

The level of talent they're producing in CM is sickening honestly 😂 I think Devaney might have hedged his bets and felt Ireland is more likely.

England overhauled their youth coaching after the 2010 WC around 2011 and 2012.

    So it's bearing fruit now.

It's good for us as we can pick up their castoffs.

Jack Moorehouse is another midfielder we can pick up.

The Fletcher twins at ManU are also eligible for Ireland but I bet they'll end up playing for Scotland.

Shea Lacey also is a big talent but is a winger/AM.

England are probably just lacking a striker. Kane is obviously class but is turning 33 in the summer so might be past it in 2 or 3 years.

Cant see us getting Scott at all.

    You never know.

He might be 5th or 6th choice for England next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

And? He's already that low down in the list if not lower. Was left out of the extended 35man squad they picked recently and even Lotus Cheek has gotten a cap this season for England.

Hayden Hackney is even further down that list and could walk into the Scotland squad that's actually going to the WC but he doesn't.

Lincoln have been promoted to the championship. That's good news for Jack Moylan and Josh Honohan (provided he's fit). Avoiding the playoffs makes them available for any potential call ups to the training camp in Spain.

A penny for Sean Roughans thoughts who left Lincoln this season to join Huddersfield who are currently in 9th and hoping to scrape a playoff place.

Lincoln might view him long term as a RB. It's one thing playing LB/LWB for the best team in Ireland and doing it for a lower league team in England. Especially next season when they could struggle in the championship.

Having experience across the back four should serve him well especially if they 3atb next season.

As for being the next Seamus Coleman, I very highly doubt it. We'll be doing extremely well to develop another FB of Coleman's quality. When Coleman was the age that Honohan is now he was helping Everton to a 5th place finish and named the best RB in England.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,917 ✭✭✭orangerhyme

I don't think he'll reach Coleman's level but he could reach upper Championship level.

He'll be in the shop window next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 839 ✭✭✭weadick

Sad Coleman only played in one major championship for us. Trap should def have brought him to Euro 2012.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,609 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

Really I should have said could he take Colemans place at right back. Coleman was outstanding for us over the years, for a right back he was by far the best player on the pitch for us a lot of the time.

Including recent games when he's 37 and isn't playing at club level. The lad is a warrior.

I'd hope we can find a FB to play FB and not have to stick a CB out there. Could see against the Czech that once Dunne came on every ball that went out wide right which seemed a lot was being passed back to O'Brien.

Might as well have played Brady at RWB to get some in swingers into the box though I assume Czechia might have forced us out right to Dunne rather than getting the ball out wide to Brady.

Would love to see Moylan continue his excellent performances in the championship next year. He was fantastic at Shels a few years ago and going by the stats and quotes I'm reading he's been excellent in league one this season. We could really do with a creative midfielder to feed Parrott and Ferguson in the next few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,609 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

Finn Azaz seems to be great at playing balls in to Parrott. He plays the balls straight away when he receives it, that is what we have needed badly for a few years. He played a great one in the last game, I think Parrott scored but they called offside which was very tight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,815 ✭✭✭tigger123

    Another assist for Azaz tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭Round tower

Yes it was called offside but it was not but unfortunetaly their was no VAR, Troy even indicated straight away that he was not offside

Not a hope in hell Scott will choose Ireland on that form

Jack Moylan nominated for League 1Player of the Season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭ozzy78

He outshone Rice in the engine room yesterday. You'd have to imagine he'll be getting an England call up sooner rather than later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭ozzy78

Hopefully he's called up in the next squad.
