It was only the application form for the CO competition. Mainly those questions that were asked in a part of it. EO was the one that had its own standalone test

I'm no. 55 in the order of merit for Clare, any chance of getting a job out of this or should I forget about it?

Just application - you’re scored on that.

Definitely next time take the time with those scenarios and written assignments! Don’t leave it until last minute!

It was based on the answers she gave in her application form and she didn't score high so she wont be call unfortunately

Seems a very flawed way of selecting candidates to interview, what was there to stop candidates getting another friend etc who has experience in them to answer the scenario questions and the honest person that tries to be above board gets lower scores and is ruled out, do they use the interviews to weed out the ones that were dishonest

highly unlikely you’ll be called , if you were in East Clare you should have applied for Limerick as they have far more offices particularly revenue in Sarsfield House in the city , plenty from east Clare & Ennis working there and WFH 4 days a week

If you had someone do the application you’d be found out during the interview, they will be reading your answers to the competency asked and will ask for different examples. People that cheat also get found out 👍🏻

Didn't know that, only location I put down was Clare so looks like I'm screwed. Cheers for the response anyway, guess I'll be on the dole for the forseeable future

I got in the 40s for Longford so going by the 2024, there may be hope so 🙈🙈🙈

I was in the 80s on 2024 panel for longford also, did get called for an interview a few weeks ago, passed the interview but didn't get an offer.

I got an option to update location last year so you may well get that this year

For the life of me I have no idea why I didn't pick Limerick instead of Clare, I'm 92 so zero chance for me

My daughter also placed 2072 for Dublin. I would have expected the OOM position to be unique

Hi all - went through this whole process for the 2025 campaign, where I scored top third category A for Roscommon with an OOM of 28. Despite all that, and after nearly fourteen months of hearing absolutely nothing, was never called for an interview. I sent Public Jobs an email and they advised they had reached OOM 15 by the 26th March this year, when the extended 2025 campaign closed, and advised me to apply for 2026 campaign, which I have done. I was advised last week I had an OOM of 68. I was told by someone that they go back to people at the end of a campaign if they have vacancies to fill, before going onto the new one and new candidates. Don't know if this is true, but my advice is if you are applying to just apply and forget about it. You could be waiting 12 months+ and it's all based on the numbers they have to fill for any particular county.

hi all! I got placed number 19 in Leitrim, what are the chances of being called?

Can I ask, as someone who has been a CO in the past..

Do most of you guys (at least those who are Dublin based) live with your folks?

Not a current but applied to this year’s CO competition. Yeah, I live at home. I don't ever see myself owning a home to be honest unless I settled with someone on a high career salary themselves.

My classmates live in their own house in Dublin from uni. Their partner’s family bought a house for the two of them. On a CO salary to buy a house or even rent an apartment, you’ll need a partner on a very high salary (+ financial support from their family to buy a house).

Hi all, I got 106 on the panel for Meath, any idea on whether this is likely to get me a job with the CS by the end of the year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Barnaboy

If only it was that easy. You are 106th in line for an interview. For a post that might not even come up for months. In 2024 they hired somewhere between 10-19 people in Meath. You might get an interview if lucky but with that OOM it is probably a stretch. As others have said, just forget about it and hopefully later in the year you might get a call.

I had oom between 110-115 in Meath for Co comp 2024 and got a position out of it, took a while though.

Bit of a different question, but would anyone have any recommendations in terms of type of job to take over the next couple of months while waiting for interview for the Civil Service?

I'm currently unemployed having finished his degree last year and can't get work in my area.

What jobs would give a variety of skills and examples that would meet the competencies well in the interview?

I know the market is very bad and a lot of people are struggling to get basic jobs... so you can't really be that picky even for a minimum wage job but I’d rather not go back into retail as I didn’t get much exposure.

Anyone have that chart which shows how many were picked for each county in the previous competition?

I believe it’s on the Reddit page or else on the last thread for this competition! I wish it was more widely available.

Interesting to see Revenue are holding an internal competition for clerical officers in Limerick and Kerry - only open to serving TCOs though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭GippyGup

Terrible time of year of do it as most of the new TCO placements haven't gotten a place yet and the vast majority of the last panel will have finished already. Really questioning why Revenue has to do it's own thing so much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭rachel867

    anyone do an interview

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,079 ✭✭✭✭Mrs OBumble

Timing probably carefully chosen to get the ones they want.

Many people don't like working for Revenue: They do nasty things like take money off people, and internally they have very clear measures showing who's working and who isn't.
