"What they have done is to use terrorist proxies, Hezbollah, etc., and nothing the US has done will have much effect on that."

On the contrary, I think what the US has done will increase terrorist proxies, Hezbollah etc, because the US barged into Iran, executed some of their leaders, bombed civilian areas including a school, and threatened to destroy the country unless the US got what they wanted.

Trump has become the most effective recruiting tool for terrorist groups throughout the Middle East since the invasion of Iraq, with maybe Israel's decimation of Palestine on an equal par.

all the US / Trump has successfully done is :

    1. getting a more radical Khamenei in place as supreme leader
    2. birthed a new generation of jihadists
    3. set middle eastern and western relations back decades

this is all regardless of how this war ends.

    such a huge fcuking loser.

Oil price dropped 15% on taco.

    Israel renews assaults on lebanon.

All the news agencies are reporting it as an agreed ceasefire, which we all know it isn't but that the perception that allows a pivot.

Overall the net result with the hormuz toll is a pivot from the primacy of the petrodollar in West Asia.

Just as a bit of a distraction from the War stuff, this is quite interesting, what do you know about the US economy post tariffs? I got results that were 'way out' to 'spot on' (mostly the former).

And getting US service members killed in an utterly pointless conflict.

Further proof that Trumpites are indeed the dumbest people on the planet.

Without a shadow of a doubt.

I’d say the Iranian leaders woke up this morning wondering if they dreamt of getting such a favourable deal.

Then they had to be told they weren’t dreaming and then proceeded to break their bollix laughing at how much they pulled Trump’s pants down.

What a pathetic gobshite Trump is.

Israel will continue with their land grab in Lebanon. They are the eternal coloniser state. They have no credibility on the international stage as anything other than a warmonger, expansionist state.

Their attachment to this US administration could be their downfall in the future when the Trump and his gang are gone and the world speaks openly about their atrocities. It will probably many years away but i think Israel has exhausted all its historic sympathy

Suppose Iran succeeds in imposes a toll on tankers exiting the Gulf at Hormuz, say €2m a go. Two things: that's a small amount per litre, so you can guess that the retail price impact would be small. Secondly, what the toll would do is impose a wedge between the Gulf price and the Outside World price, and the tax could well be reflected in a lower price in the Gulf, especially as most oil is produced elsewhere.

Its the old basic Economics 101 analysis of the incidence of taxation, i.e who really pays as opposed to who is liable to hand over the Tax. Taxes get passed on.

    Israel renews assaults on lebanon.

Pffft. Peace Plans and cease fires can't be getting in the way of good old land grabbing.

Not only that he legitimised a Brutal regimes narrative that America wants to annilihate all Iranians.

You could not have planned it worse.

He handed the fúcking Mullahs the moral high ground.

When historians write about this in years to come, they will have a job convincing their publishers they are not high on drugs.

Exactly - He's made selling the story of "the great Satan" the easiest job in the world now.

An entirely new generation of zealots that hate the US and anyone aligned with them.

The older Khamenei , whilst obviously an awful person at least had the political "heft" to keep the IRGC under some kind of control. His wounded son has none of that and Trump has put him in charge which actually means the IRGC are in charge.

By every conceivable measure Trump has made things worse for everyone , everywhere.

Except for Tariffs of course. Ye can make trillions of dollars from tariffs🤣 They never get passed on so trillions of dollars just appear like magic from nowhere. USA economics 101🙈

The art of the deal- 30 billion to replace a Khamenei with a Khamenei

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,142 ✭✭✭Paulzx

30 billion that's going to flow into the Arms manufacturers in the good ole US of A.

Yesterday's protest by the farmers where they inconvenienced the country and achieved nothing, is a microcosm of the war in Iran started by Trump(and his cronies Israel). Where he ultimately achieved very little and made the lives of everyone around the world financially worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,982 ✭✭✭yagan

Nearly all the crude goes east to the rest of Asia, it's the LNG that Europe needs a lot of. But overall the effect is Iran has said payment can not be in USD, which makes the USD irrelevant for all east bound shipments so after the dust has settled this will be greatest financial adjustment with long term consequences for the USA ability to borrow.

Stand up to Trump, you win.

Don’t and he’ll bully you mercilessly and you deserve it.

Time for the middle finger from the EU and Brits should pull the State visit. If Orban manages to win he and Hungary need to be kicked out, however this happens.

He’s on thin ice now and you’d imagine the knives are being sharpened.

The other NATO countries were so right not to get sucked into the US/Israel dishonesty.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Don't forget the hauliers (or at least a subset of both)

Hard to say they achieved nothing. There's a ceasefire in place and oil/gas prices have fallen since the protest

I think I should quote the above frequently in case it's forgotten

Thing is, and as mad as it seems it doesn't even capture the full breadth of Trumps stupidity and total abject failure...

There aren't words to adequately capture my disrespect for the privileged moron

A grifter and a failure all his life....not a suitable person to lead anything.

Can't wait for Trump to invade Greenland

This time next month Denmark will own Alaska.

In this case Irans leadership where prepared to die and in many cases did die. They also paid a heavy country wide price in both lives and infrastructure.

Im not disagreeing with the sentiment but Trump is not some fat kid in school throwing his weight around.

Hes the psychotic principle who has very real power to fcuk up your life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,787 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

You mean the way things were before Trump and Israel started this war? The prices are nowhere near back to where they were then.

And the farmers/hauliers protest has NOTHING to do with the price drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,620 ✭✭✭PokeHerKing

Another view point could be that yesterdays protests did in fact bring an end to the war 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,997 ✭✭✭✭kippy

He has made things worse for the regular guy on the street. This would be a standard trait with most of his policies. Those who are multimillionaires/billionaires aren't any worse off.

We really need to review how we treat these people going forward in my opinion. They are benefitting every time we have a global crisis, and those close to power are very clearly using the insider knowledge to enrich themselves.

It is shocking that millions of US citizens think that a man who has had a silver spoon in his mouth all his live and never had to deal with the daily toils that they do could represent them.

Interesting if it turns out to be true

"During the two-week ceasefire, only about 10 to 15 ships will be permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz with Iran's approval, in coordination with the IRGC Navy and after payment of tolls, and the United States is committed to releasing all of Iran's frozen assets. The Strait of Hormuz will in no way, even after a final agreement, be "open" as it was before. During this period, negotiations will be held based on Iran's 10-point plan, the details of which are referenced in the text of the Supreme National Security Council's statement. In the event of no agreement, the war will resume."

If this goes through and I think it is a very big if that it would be tolerated....if even something approaching it goes through...

You would hope it would be an unmissable gigantic neon signpost to just what an abject failure Trump has been....what even is he? An enabler for some of the most questionable regime's around? Friend to dictatorships and oligarchies? Useful fool fir the shadiest and scummiest, outplayed and outplayed easily at every turn by the worst of the worst on the world stage.....

What an epic gigantic destructive moronic gobshite he is

And you will still have morons defending him.....
