It's some achievement to make Iran look like the good guys.

    Astonishing

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I was confidently told on more than one occasion on this very forum that Trump wouldn't get elected again because too much of his base would die off by the time of the next election.

Also told that he wouldn't live until the next election, or would be in jail, or the electorate would be so disgusted by his various antics that he'd become a political pariah.

We know what happened with all of those. His vote tally has indeed increased election upon election.

Next confident prediction that looks shaky - the midterm elections will render him a lame duck.

    Not good guys.

Coherent. More trustworthy negotiators when it's something within their capability. They've negotiated fees for ships to pass the straits.

They are threatening to close the south-east entrance to the Red Sea , most probably through the use of their proxies in the region. They can't block it but they can hit ships.

The problem for Trump is that ordinary Iranians are more worried about regime change and the civil wars that followed the Arab Spring than the current regime. The devil you know…

Two things I saw today was the absence of Secretary of State Rubio and the apparent tension between the USAF General [JCS] and the other members of the miltary of his rank from what he said during his briefing at the event. The general didn't hold back from criticising the other serving and recently retired members of the general staff on their thoughts about the US military being involved in a war on Iran.

There was an emphasis from the CIA that the fighter was brought down by a shoulder-launched missile without mentioning the type. I assume the pilot told his interviewers what brought him down. The availability of it to Iranians on the ground probably went hand in hand with the users having Comms means as well which would mean they could tell IRGC and Tehran a fighter was downed, nothing to do with some leaker and the media in the US despite Trump trying to distract the US public with a a "fake news" allegation that US media were working hand in hand with the "enemy". The CIA gent didn't elabotrate on where Iran got it's hands on the missile or training in use.

A lot of the media over the past few days have been reporting repeatedly that the pilot was behind enemy lines. FFS, he was shot down over Iranian territory, inside Iranian airspace, a hostile USAF military aircraft present there as a result of Trump having it there on an excursion without Congress authorising war on Iran. Even the sceptical media have been swallowing Trump's lies….

Most of them show a lot more dignity than Trump or Hegseth even when talking in English and facing the threat of death on a daily basis.

Trump is now trying to blame journalists for "leaking" about the fact that there was a 2nd crew member of the downed F15 who was missing. This from CNN:

"During the press conference, Trump said that the revelation of a second missing crew member had alerted the Iranian military and sparked their competing efforts to try to find him first.

“It became a much more difficult operation because a leaker leaked,” he said. “All of a sudden, the entire country of Iran knew that there was a pilot that was somewhere on their land that was fighting for his life.” "

Now even a schoolboy knows that an F15 has 2 crew members, and if Trump and co were going on about one who had been rescued, the strong implication is that there is another one out there somewhere (dead or alive). Doesn't take a leaker. Memo to MAGA Maths geniuses 2-1=1.

Trump isn’t the cancer in America, merely the fungal infection that the cancer makes possible.

I have come around to the view that there is a high likelihood that Trump won due to manipulation of the electronic tabulation machines. There's no way that he managed to win every single swing district across the nation legitimately. It doesn't add up, not to mention the analysis of the vote distribution showing strong indicators of manipulation.

Depends on the model of F15. Most are single-seaters, but the E is a tandem.

The level of information out there is, indeed, concerning. One would normally expect that the loss would not be announced by anyone in the US until after the incident is closed, with a disposition of the crew known. Publicly leaking “we have two on the run” or “one is on the run and one is safe” as a running commentary on current events seems idiotic.

The press are legally protected for repeating restricted information, but that such things are being leaked is, to put it mildly, problematic.

It's not perfect but it's better than what preceeded it.

If by 'doing more' you mean 'turned the world order upside down' then yes, yes he has.

    Sleepy Joe Indeed.

Having a raving lunatic who is clearly in an advanced state of mental decline as your commander in chief is probably just a tad more concerning, but you don’t seem to have an issue with that for some reason.

*awaits request for a medical report to prove the above assertion or some other attempt to muddy the waters and skirt around the issue.

Trump of all people should understand where the mullahs still get their support. After all, they’re his base voters - poorly educated religious zealots.

I'm looking forward to seeing Trump & co jail the "leaker".

Interestingly like in many revolutions it was a rising increasingly literate populace that overthrew the shah.

He had made literacy mandatory in the army, and many would go to lead the revolt from within.

The more literate people there were the more people were asking where was the oil money going.

I do think social media has disrupted democracy in creating a constant narrative of outrage that knows only how to tear down, and as a lifelong belicose he's merely run front of the mob and said "follow me!"

The Iranian media broke the news Friday morning.

Sure they claimed an f35 at first obviously just as a let's pick the biggest fish propaganda win but once they had the pictures of the wreckage the cat was out of the bag no amount of censorship of US media would have kept this incident under wraps as regards aircraft type crew count etc.

This notion that the Iranian's are basically relying on US media for intel that has come to the fore today is a bit ridiculous.

They were going to be searching that mountain no matter what CNN or CBS or whoever reported.

And so Trump is readying to sign an executive order to name the biggest most beautiful crater on the moon as Trump Crater. And this will be used for trump space tower hotel. No atmosphere though :D

Let's not get childish with name calling?

Yes, let’s not sound too presidential. One of his boys wants to change the ‘tact’ of the Iranian government with boots on the ground. Mr. Fallon might be better employed working on the tact displayed by his own guy first.

US representative Pat Fallon, a Texas Republican, told Fox Business he envisioned the Iran war evolving into a ground war.

“I personally think it’s going to be boots – at least special ops, American special operators on the ground with allied allies in the region and air cover. We have to change the tact of the Tehran government, or we can’t leave. We can’t leave until the job is done.”

The 10th Amendment says that the States cant be forced to enforce federal law.

Disturbing that a signed opinion from SCOTUS has agreed to vacate a lower court ruling upholding Steve Bannons convictions, for which he has already served time. The DC Circuit already affirmed the conviction. The Trump DOJ is trying to undo it.

Personally I think it was the cost of living that won it for him rather than any of the other issues - it was what gave him the extra 5% or so that he needed. However, I'm still struggling to figure out how any sane adult could have thought he was a better choice to stabilise the world, and therefore provide the environment where living costs are not subject to constant economic shocks like the ones he has caused since taking office.

It's a society that had open (as opposed to covert) racial apartheid in operation until 1964, and of course its removal created a massive backlash which gave the GOP a stranglehold on the South from the 1970's onwards. People need to stop comparing the US with Western Europe, Canada or Australia, which for all their faults are largely functioning democracies.

Can we cut out this childish shiit? Argue the point re Gaza and so called ceasefire. Your response just makes you look incapable of arguing the point. The hunting for likes from the mob is pathetic. "Look everybody, I got one!".

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Don't underestimate the abortion vote. It was clear that Trump was anti abortion and Harris pro

For many people over here that is a red line policy and they will vote solely on those lines no matter who the candidate is

I disagree with the first part of your post. I don't think it was the cost of living. The left in any fptp country tends to be a fractious, unstable entity made up of multiple interest groups from liberals to socialists to environmentalists to anarchists and so on. In 2020, there was sufficient momentum to galvanise a critical mass from these various groups to get off their backsides and vote. In 2024, it was taken as a given that Americans aren't that stupid so the impetus to keep Trump out was much diminished.

Most of them don't care about curbing inflation, stabilising the world or tackling the cost of living. MAGA is a grifting movement that aims to denude the country while the top few parasites enrich themselves at the expense of their voters. If they're stupid enough to vote for this, they deserve everything they get. Other countries have regressive rightists but you'd never see this level of cultish devotion to a politician of all people anywhere else.
