Yes and exactly the same reason the confetti term 'anti-semitism' is as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,641 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Yes. It's just optics for him because he knows whatever slim chance he has to be in power beyond May would evaporate if he was seen to support the war publicly.

I am surprised you are not claiming 50000+ at this stage

That figure is far from proven,, watch official secrets (2019) based on the true story of some of the carry on before the iraq invasion.

The Iranian regime is a horrific regime. The 30,000 figure is a vast exaggeration and best estimates from Iranian human rights groups say around 7,000 were killed. That's horrific enough but the headbangers always need to exaggerate to feed their war aims.

Across social media now we see members of the Iranian diaspora who called for war now expressing remorse at having done so. They realise they were played for fools by Trump who was never interested in helping the people of Iran.

Nine years ago Trump got into power and promptly ripped up the nuclear deal Obama had signed with Iran because he wanted to swing his imaginary massive penis in everybody's face. Now he's lost his tiny mind over the Straits Of Hormuz. The Straits of Hormuz were open up to February 27th. They're now closed because the paedo-Nazi madman Trump started a war.

The US and Israel are to blame for all this current mess. Nobody else. A dog on the street could have seen it was going to be a disaster and a dog on the street had more intelligence than exists in the entirety of Trump's regime.

The people who called for this war and especially the people who still cheerlead it on should be tarred, feathered, given a wedgy and told to go away and never comment on anything ever again.

    Idiots.

The people who actually started it should be in The Hague and should spend the rest of their lives behind bars. Sadly the world doesn't work that way though.

trump saying today that that he sent the weapons in to kill iranians and Mossad saying they were there too, so who killed those Iranians. Certainly doesn't sound like it was Iran responsible for your absolutely ridiculous propaganda figures

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,924 ✭✭✭threeball

Trump has killed more iranians in a month than the regime did in the last 2 years.

This rescue mission looks like a propaganda win for the US, but at what cost? An F15 and 2 C130's is a pretty good return for the Iranians. China and Russia are probably bending over backwards to supply more anti aircraft kit to Iran to repeat the win..

<edit> And four little bird helicopters were abandoned. Total mission cost $300 million

I'm not even sure it was a propaganda win for the US. The only ones I've seen celebrating it are psychopathic, war mongering MAGA head types on social media (most of whom sound completely unhinged).

That tweet today from Trump is something a thug would write. Definitely not Presidential in tone laden with expletives. He is clearly panicking. This was a war of choice by the U.S. and Israel both suffering tremendously. No doubt Iran is suffering but it is in an existential fight. If it looses then the country most likely breaks into multiple entities.

Protest are on the increase in Israel against Bibi's government and the war in general. You have to ask where these protests were against the ongoing genocide in Gaza. It indicates a society which has lost is humanity and the current protests are driven by a selfish fear of death and destruction.

Bibi I think, believes if Israel can weather the death destruction being wrought by Iran, Hezbollah and the Houthis it can eventually brings about the disintegration of Iran with the help of the U.S. I think this is unlikely to happen. Iranians have united to defend their homeland. They endured 8 years of death and destruction from Iraq. They are battle hardened in a way the Israelis are not.

The curse of the 8th decade is a very real possibility for Israel.

I think it was a win for Iran in so far as they did not shoot the prisoner - similarly Hamas kept their captives alive.

It's extraordinary yet not surprising that, once again, we have people believing that America's military target is the aggressor in this conflict. America has been shown, again and again, to pick fights with brown people a long way from their home land. Still struggling to get over their own founding Puritanism I guess.

France24 report that the US fired on Iran from bases in GCC member states.

For any of the GCC to claim neutrality is laughable.

    What Iranians you've spoke to?

I dun spoke to all de ded wuns.

They have the highest rate of executions per capita on the planet. Remember all the people killed in the protests following the religious police killing a woman for leaving her hair showing outside her hijab. That's ignoring the revolt just past. But yeah, the leadership clearly respect the lives of their greater population.

The plot thickens - seems the destroyed US aircraft at Isfahan may have had nothing to do with the rescue of the pilot. Some observers were already very suspicious of why a lone missing airman would need huge transport planes which can hold 100 troops apiece to rescue him.

The fact that Iran can still bring down aircraft is not good news at all. If the Americans persist in this war similar scenarios are likely to happen again.

How many days water supply would a pilot have after they ejected? The terrain must be arid.

Current rumour is it was a nuke raid to get the materials that's gone horribly wrong.

But, to be honest. I've no clue what's going on. So much fog of war at the moment.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

I think Israel is trying to drag other countries into this war.

I have some doubts that the Diego Garcia strike was Iran. Seems very far away. Also reports the Cyprus strike did not come from Iran. I suppose Lebanon might be the source.

One theory in the USS Liberty strike in 1967 is that Israel struck it in order to blame Egypt and drag the US into the war on their side. Another theory is that Israel did it to stop the US learning what Israel was planning so it wouldn't try to stop them as in the 1953 Suez Crisis.

Starry: Pete Hegseth is a Christian National Zionist who doesn’t care about humanitarian law or law in general, nor the US Constitution. US soldiers won’t refuse illegal orders (“no quarter, no mercy”), as they could be shot on sight or imprisoned. The top brass of the Pentagon could refuse illegal orders to pursue a war not authorised by Congress. Short of that bold step, it would take a military coup.

Arizona [Democratic] Senator Mark Kelly wrote to Secretary of Defence Peter Hegseth (on US Senate Letterhead):

    March 16, 2026
    https://www.kelly.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/3.16.26-MK-Letter-to-Hegseth-Final.pdf

    The Honorable Pete Hegseth
    Secretary of Defense
    U.S. Department of Defense
    1000 Defense Pentagon
    Washington, DC 20301

    Secretary Hegseth:

I am writing to request clarification regarding several of your recent public statements about U.S. military operations against Iran, including that “no quarter” would be given to enemies of the United States.

The phrase “no quarter” has a well-established meaning in the law of armed conflict. Historically, and legally, it refers to a declaration by a military commander that no enem combatants can be taken prisoner—that is, that they are to be killed rather than permitted to surrender.

Such a declaration is expressly prohibited under international law, including the Geneva and Hague Conventions, and would be a war crime punishable under the War Crimes Act of 1996 (18 U.S.C. 2441). The Department of Defense Law of War Manual adopts international law, including Article 23 of Hague IV Regulation, expressly stating it is “forbidden to declare that no quarter will be given” (Section 5.4.7).
    [...]

Clear guidance from the Secretary of Defense is essential to the professionalism and discipline of the United States Armed Forces. Our troops deserve certainty that their leadership gives the utmost respect to the laws that govern armed conflict and has a clear understanding of the importance of the reciprocal rules of engagement that protect their lives

Theres talks of an offer from Iran for EU ships to move through the Strait if paid for in euros or yuan. If it goes through, its game over America. Petrodollar is dead. GCC alliance is useless, American bonds will rise, investments will tank and inflation will the US will go north of 30%.

Let's get it done and end this 60 year nightmare. Every single major global event can be linked back to the US and Isreal meddling in something. This ends them both.

That it's even a thought is due to the absolutely reckless retardation of the Trump administration.....

Yet more success to be attributed to the greatest moron ever to become president of the US, its high time he was removed forcibly from office and sent to prison for the good of his country and everyone else's.

They're backing themselves. The US has done nothing but fcuk us over. Threats, tariffs, illegal wars that push up the cost of living, the petrodollar scam, little more than a protection racquet.

You can live in your Trump/US concentric fantasy land. The rest of us live in reality. If American objectives are achieved, Israel is stronger, we are weaker and a flood of refugees are heading for our shores.
