So what is 'People are entitled to moan about the weather if they want' or

But before that remark you stated this

'In fairness, there seem to be some people on this forum who complain incessantly about the weather and who seem to forget what climate we live in. Every year it's the same. And for those people I genuinely do wonder why they don't consider moving (I'm not trying to be smart). As unlike housing, transport, the health service etc, there is nothing we can do about the weather'

So can we moan or not.

If Irish people didn't moan about the weather then we wouldn't be Irish.

That's why we are so good at small talk with strangers in shops, public transport, pubs etc because we always have the weather to moan/talk about.

Doesn't mean we have to live somewhere else.

it's a sh*tty day but i thought it would be way worse here in dublin, but maybe the worst is yet to come this evening

do you include people endlessly looking for snow in this? You could apply the exact same rationale there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,103 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

I don't care who likes it or no, this winter and spring have been so wet and virtually incessant apart from odd days here and there, it's been a proper cnut😝😝

We arrived in Clifden at about 3pm, wasn't too bad on the drive from home to westport. But from there to Here was awful, very heavy rain strong enough winds and lots of flooding on the road. But right now, we have blue sky's appearing and no rain and the wind has dropped, it's nearly nice.

    Yes. Absolutely.

I’ve made many comments during winter (often at poor Gonzo who probably loves snow more than any of us) that our expectations for snow are way too high in Ireland. Especially now given global warming unfortunately.

People often look for snowy weather way too early in the season.

Same in summer. Bar the odd exceptional year it usually only picks up temp wise in Ireland in mid May.

You can do nothing about the weather but you sure as hell can do something about the climate, in terms of infrastructure and long term public service planning, of which as usual there is 0 here. If the Scandinavians had our approach to climate there would be no life there. You have to plan and adapt, but there is none of that here, just your "stop moaning it always rains" and celebrate like a loon the 8.5 days of actually nice weather we get all year.

Wow such hostility! You don't even know me and you're going on about posts I made last year, that's kind of creepy that you even remember year old posts from a specific poster!

I don't even know what you're on about as I don't lie around pools anywhere for a week! I do however spend a lot of time in Spain and have done since my youth having family there. So would be very familiar with what goes on in that country. But hey god forbid the actual facts might spoil your notions about whatever you think you are refering to.

And today in Tralee was really dire! Can we really not expect better on April 4th! Unlike other towns Tralee did get it ok for park run this morning and a little while after that, but it was basically shut up shop after that for the rest of the day. Thank god I'm off to Greece for a few days on Monday! Some vit D on the bones and nice temps, a sweet respite to awful weather here. Once home I'll probably be back complaining here with a vengeance 😀but hopefully by then some proper spring weather will have us all calmed down.😊

We got away lightly from the storm and had a grand hunkered down evening. 7am this morning awoke to snow on the car and 1° but bright sunshine.

I can see clouds gathering óver the Ox mountains to the west of me.......…

Nice to wake up to blue skies and sun after yesterday's storm. The birds look very industrious.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Absolutely chucking it down rain mixed with hail at the minute and cold again in SCD.

There are blue skies trying their best to breakthrough and it was quite warm and sunny earlier on this morning.

Hopefully we get another break from the deluge later today.

We had the same in Celbridge, very strong gusts and heavy hail showers around noon. But it has passed now and blue skies are returned, so hopefully it's only shortlived for you too.

I spoke too soon! The heavy blustery showers have returned here now too.

Another blast of sleety hailstones in Naas, crazy to think it's summer in a few weeks.
