Really ? I hate it, I don’t know anybody who likes it , maybe I’m just an older generation or something.

It should be just for obvious stuff, they’ve made a balls of the game with how they use it.

Yeah they might celebrate but at the back of everyone's mind is that it could be ruled out. After the initial cheer the next thought is VAR. Even if fans are cheering it undeniably makes scoring a goal less enjoyable. 90% of fans surveyed agree .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,891 ✭✭✭✭8-10

And it was majority match-going fans surveyed:

"In a poll of more than 7,000 fans, the vast majority of whom attend matches, only 2% agreed with the statement that VAR “makes football more enjoyable”, and 3% said it made the experience of attending a match better, while 91% disagreed. Of those polled, 81% said they preferred watching matches without video technology."

Will they listen? Will they f**k

That is a different, loaded, question though. It's not if they are in favour of VAR or not, it's whether VAR enhances the match day experience or not.

"When asked ‘taking all things into consideration, do you support the use of VAR in football?’ 75.7% of fans replied ‘No’."

The best thing about being in Europe is that your league game will be on the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,535 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

    Come on it's a landslide.

The only thing fans want is goal line technology and we don't need VAR for that.

Is it normal to have an FA cup weekend straight after an inernational break. I dont ever remember the Pl having 2 straight weeks off.

Looks like De Zerbi to Spurs

Last season was the Relegation play-offs in the nations league and then FA Cup quarter finals with the premier league returning in mid week but this season it is European football in the midweek

Trossard, for one, is back. He reffed the Bosnia-H vs Italy game last night!

Chelsea have announced pre-tax losses of £262.4m for the year ending 30 June, 2025. Looks like they'll soon have to sell themselves something again to no doubt record a profit instead.

Thought it was funny to claim a profit of £128.4m in the previous year's accounts as this was helped in just a small way by the sale of the women's team to Blueco Midco - a subsidiary company - for almost £200m.

The Chelsea system has always looked bonkers from the outside.
It surely will come crashing down at some point.

If they want 100m quick and handy Utd could take Caicedo off their hands… 🤣

Doesn't matter, the rules have changed, you can make losses to your hearts content.

Starting in the 2025/26 season, the Premier League is replacing Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) with a new

    Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) system

. This ruleset caps on-pitch spending—wages, transfer amortization, and agent fees—at 85% of football revenue plus net player sales

Dodgy Clubs will now ask agents to bill parent companies to get that cost off the books.

Newcastle have sold St. James park to themselves I read yesterday and Everton did the same with Goodison. Is there going to be a rush of this stuff now before the new rules come in next season.

Chelsea miles out in front on agent fees. Villa surprisingly second even though they didn't sign that many players (I think?) and I would have expected Liverpool to be more given the contract renewals for VVD and Salah and a very busy summer.

Or maybe their brother could get a nice job at another club in our "football group"

Enzo has been suspended by Chelsea, hot on the heels of Cucurella speaking out on the sacking of Maresca. Things are not well there, would be the icing on the cake if they missed out on top 5

Bruno Fernandes wins PL Player of the Month for March. His 6th time winning the award. Only Salah and Kane have won it more times (both on 7). At this rate it wouldn't be too surprising to see him eventually top that list.

I think it would be a miracle of they got top 6 at this point. Some very tough games coming up.

One thing not to discount about those Chelsea players is their desire to look after their bottom line. With a probably 25% pay cut for no CL football, they could pull a few results out of the fire yet. And they really only have Liverpool to compete with, who are brutal themselves at the minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 344 ✭✭Bugatti

Why specifically are you singling out the Chelsea players, like they’re the only ones motivated by money?

Since you mentioned Liverpool as a top 5 rival, and with probable pay cuts for their players as well if they fail to qualify for the CL, I just think it's funny how that angle only gets pushed on the Chelsea players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭CajunSurprise

Bet Enzo Ferandaz is regretting signing that 9 year contract now. A lot of other Chelsea players are probably thinking same thing about their contracts.

Very very good player in fairness to him. Were there rumours he's picked up a knee injury on international duty? Would be a huge miss to United over the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

As far as I'm aware, Liverpool pay big bonuses for CL qualification, trophy wins, league wins etc. I've never heard of pay cuts for not playing in the CL with Liverpool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,929 ✭✭✭Damien360

This was seen in the accounts after the PL win. Salaries jumped due to bonuses. Salah broke that rule and was paid regardless. Wages for 2024 were 373m Vs 428m for the 2025 accounts for mostly the same squad reflecting performance bonuses. Accounts close end May so they include final season positions.

Id hate to be a Chelsea fan right now. Owners paying extortionate amount in agent fees 65m+, a manager who would do well if he just didnt talk or speak, owners that are pretty relentless in buying, feck all real quality. Owners must be over the billion mark since taken over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,307 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

That Mudryk transfer alone isn't recognised enough

Why Chelsea? The second player in as many weeks has come out and questioned the direction of the club and the first who spoke out was suspended. Suppose it was topical.
