US official has told Reuters than a US jet was shot down over Iran with a search and rescue operation underway.

    Update

Iran is saying airdrop operations have been carried out, and intense clashes are ensuing between US forces and Iranian ground forces, resulting in casualties among the invading forces.

Iranian television has also announced that they are offering 10 billion tomans ($64,102) for anyone who can find the pilots

So they’re asking people to be part of the search operation to get the American pilots.

Of course, this would be a changing point in this war because it would mean for the first time that if the Iranians are able to get the American pilots, then this is the first time that the Iranians will have American prisoners of war during this conflict.

Two US crew members missing. It seems from the photos it was an F15 that was shot down. Iran offering reward for their capture or death. Could give Iran negotiating leverage.

Find the pilots, clean them up and handcuff them to Iranian negotiators!

For any kind of peace in the world there needs to be a slaughtering of US troops, flag draped coffins coming of planes will eventually make it unpalatable for the amercian public to support that orange cvntbag!

Iran has allowed a French owned, Malta-flagged ship through the Strait after Macron criticised the US. Regime charging tolls, which the UK saying it will not accept. Unclear if the French owned ship paid the toll.

The Kribi, a Malta-flagged ship owned by French logistics giant CMA CGM, is the first Western vessel to exit the Gulf since the war with Iran began.

Ships from countries like China, Pakistan and the Philippines have safely passed through the strait in recent days......But the regime is believed to be operating a “toll booth” where vessels are charged up to $2m (£1.5m) to cross the strait, through which 20 per cent of the world’s oil normally transits.

If a fighter jet is getting shot down then a helicopter doesn’t have much chance.

US search helicopter also hit by projectile in Iran

Iran’s Mehr news agency is reporting that a US helicopter, on a search mission for the jet reportedly shot down in Iran, was also hit by a projectile.

We will bring you more on this as soon as we can.

trump has repeatedly been talking about sending troops into iran since 1980 anything is possible at this stage .. after 20 years of iraq and Afghanistan he is more likely though to unfortunately just level the place - the US cant afford a protracted war they will most likely wrap things up and leave the whole middle east a mess - israel is a different matter however they might just keep it going a while longer till they are told to rein it in

I agree, but there's no end of people to point that out (rightly). Yet you're the only one who replied on the Iranian regime's excesses.

A F16 has disappeared from radar after transmitting an emergency alert over Saudi Arabia now.

Iranians seem to be having a good friday considering the US gained air superiority on the first day. Leader of the parliament seems to enjoying it.

No point in me assuming what other people think ......but I'd question a person's logic if they can't see the Iranian regime is abhorrent too.. not the Iranisn people, the regime....which likely wouldn't be in place now if it wasn't for British and American interference.

    Good.

America deserves every single thing that will be visited upon them for the crime of electing this dangerous, corrupt, incompetent, fascist regime.

And they did so because of the inherent individual selfishness and self-interest present in American society.

I meant 'desperate' as in desperate for anything that would bring about the collapse of the fascist clerical regime that has made their lives a misery for the last five decades, preceded by decades of a more secular repressive regime. I'm sure those who had loved ones killed in January and in previous uprisings, or have others in prison or awaiting execution, already felt 'desperate'. I don't think those of us in the cosy and reasonably well-informed West can hope to have much insight into how people react while living under such a regime and subject to constant censorship and internet blackouts. They're naturally likely to be more concerned about their own regime's motives and intentions. Any outside intervention, even from scrotes like Trump and Netanyahu, would have been at least initially welcome to some at least.

This rescue mission could turn into another Mogadishu.

I saw videos earlier of US helicopters and planes flying low, presumably as part of a search effort. The region must be sparsely populated or a no-go area for the IRGC because the planes and helis looked like sitting ducks to any kind of air-defense, even manpads.

    You left out something...

A lot of the ones that voted for him must be a little dim as well, one would have to be somewhat mentally challenged to think Donald Trump would be the solution to any problem.....

Sky reporting the aircraft went down in Western Iran, and that might be less difficult because of the proximity to US allies. Also reports that the F15 was based in Lakenheath, an airbase leased by the US in the UK.

Edit: Sky now reporting that one of the crew members has been rescued by the US and is alive.

Reports of Iranian jets in the air. Thought Trump said these were all gone on first day of the war?

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

    This view is boring.

Plenty of Americans did not vote for him, so "America" doesn't deserve anything, it's an entire country.

There are plenty of people who do deserve something but let's not wrap 340 million people into this too.

Still very embarrassing for Trump, especially after his noxious speech the other evening.

Very embarrassing for him. Hopefully it humbles him somewhat but that is unlikely.

All American citizens in the Lebanon have been urged to leave immediately while commercial flights are still operable.

Well that’s ominous. Israel going for Beirut.

... from one aircraft. A helicopter has apparently been struck too. (to be confirmed).

Video of Iranian missile hitting the Israeli city of Petah Tivka. Hit an industrial area. No injuries. Israel has a lot of bomb shelters.

Please, he got elected twice. Americans knew exactly what they were supporting the second time round. You don’t have to go far in the US to find people still cheering on his hooliganism.
