    Nothing for me today.

Two wins from the first one million bonds issued. The connection between Canada and Monaghan came to my mind when I saw them together on the page.

Prize Value Winning Prize Bond Location

    €75.00 421513 Monaghan

    €75.00 424623 Canada

"County Monaghan in Ireland has strong twinning agreements with several Canadian regions, specifically Prince Edward Island (PEI) (signed 1994), Miramichi City in New Brunswick (signed 1999), and Peterborough, Ontario. These links celebrate the extensive 19th-century migration from Monaghan to Canada and are celebrated annually with "Canada Day" in Monaghan."

Great post. I really enjoy the esoteric and off-beat viewpoints you come up with !!

    €75 for me today.

    €50k gone to Dublin.

8no. of the 20no. €1k prizes gone to Dublin, with 5no. gone to Cork. Clare got 2no., and Kerry, Wicklow, Donegal, Carlow and the UK got 1 no. each. So Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Tipperary, Wexford and Meath, which between them account for 20% of PB holdings got none of the €1k prizes. Not to mention the remaining counties and territories with smaller holding who between the m got nothing. While Dublin and Cork, which combined account for approximately 50% of PB holdings walked off with 65% of the €1k prizes (by number). To paraphrase Shakespeare, something really is not right in the state of PB prize randomness. Which reminded me, whatever happened to that report ?

This week’s €50k winning ticket was sold in the December 2023.

Bit of trouble in the UK for NS&I.

Found them the worst UK institution to deal with regarding my fathers probate. Getting information on how much he had in Premium bonds took two months after providing the correct information.

With my mothers Premium Bonds they rejected my Power of Attorney documents as being copies. Two banks, the electric company and the telephone company had all accepted the same document that was totally in order.

That said once you are registered their website is relatively easy to navigate and use.

Wake me up when it's all over.

It was the lead story on the BBC News at 6, ahead of the war. The boss of NS&I was sacked today.

First quarter comparison over the last nine years. My holding has fluctuated during that time and is now declining as I move money elsewhere for a better return.

Still no win for me yet with a small 1036 bonds.

Making me feel all the more sorry for myself after sitting down yesterday and looking at my daily million (The only lotto I play) history, today’s €1.50 brings it to 54 consecutive draws with €0 winnings.

It seems the only luck I have is indeed bad luck.

March count, the same 11 million bonds BJZ to BKJ in each of the 4 draws. Not counting €500 for BKA and BKB on the 20th.

Friday 06. 137 prizes. Highest BKA 18. Lowest BKF 9.

    Friday 13. 150. BKI 21. BKB 7.

    Friday 20. 134. BKJ 18. BKC 6.

    Friday 27. 127. BKD 18 BKA & BKC 7 each.

    Highest overall BKJ 62 (12,20,18,12). Lowest BKC 36 (11,12,6,7).

    Starting BJZ. 48,54,41,36,58,46,56,51,48,48,62. Average 49.82.

    44 million bonds won 548 prizes, average per million 12.45. x 52 x €75 = €48,572.73. Divided by 62.5 to see what €100K would win in a year with the same luck = €777.16. Nearest to 10 x €75.

Quoting myself here. I just read a bit of this thread on Ask About Money.

    https://www.askaboutmoney.com/threads/what-percentage-interest-rate-is-paid-in-prizes-on-prize-bonds.240885/page-5

On the last page it came up with an exact return earned by the €75 prizes in 2024, €777.38 for every €100K. Almost the same as my €777.16 for those March bonds. I will use €777.38 as the figure to work out how many £5 bonds are still in circulation. If I get round to counting their wins in 2024 and 2025.
