Afternoon folks, newbie here so take it easy with me please 😁

I have searched the discussion boards here but couldn't find anything on this topic so apologies if it's already been discussed.

I was wondering if anyone has taken the stage 2 testing for promotion to EO within An Garda Síochána, and if so would there be any tips/sample tests to try?

    Thanks.

I think Aon are the test provider for this competition. If so, there are sample tests here to practice on

Thanks for that. I did check out their website but what you've linked here seems to have much more than what I could find. Much appreciated. 🙂

Following on from above, has anyone been called for interview and can provide some insight into any questions that may be asked outside of the competencies, e.g Organisational structure

    Hi,

Waiting to be called for an interview myself so cant help unfortunately. Have you got an interview date for your county?

The feedback was confusing. I don't know if it has any affect on an "oom" though as the email seems to indicate it will be based on your CV.

In my inductive logical reasoning feedback I got that Compared to other participants, it is harder for you to handle the tasks in this test successfully. Your completion of the test was quite fast, this means that you completed approximately as many tasks as most other participants. At the same time you were extremely accurate which means that compared to other participants, you answered more items correctly.

I don't understand how I could be quite fast and extremely accurate but find it harder to handle tasked than others. Is this something I should receive clarification on or does it matter to the process?

I was called for interview last week. They only really focused on the competencies :)

Had my interview on the 13th apparently OOM was done last week and results should be out end of April, I’m hoping next Thursday before bank holiday. Interview was competency based, no real surprises, good luck everyone

I have passed the online assessments does anyone know will the results from the assessments have any input into when you're called for an interview or is solely your application and/or is it more where your geographic choice is?

It's based on the results of the test from what a gathered when I queried mine.

I had my interview and placed no 2 for one of my locations, I’m happy enough with that. I didn’t think the interview went as well as id have hoped so I’m pleased to have passed & placed high on oom.

Do you mind if I ask, what type of people were on the board of interview ?

Was thete a Garda member such as a Super or Inspector?

I had my interview and unfortunately I did mot make the panel im just curious about the board of interviewers as I felt mine may have never worked in a Garda Station

I had an interview but unfortunately I didn't get on the panel

The boards for that level would generally be made up of 2 people that are Inspectors/HEOs/AOs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,490 ✭✭✭Guffy

It should say it in the invitation to interview you received by email. I had 2 x APs 1 x external according to the email and then there was a 4th off camera taking notes I think.

I have no idea if they were from within AGS or not though.

    Hi,

Anybody get called for an interview in Waterford or Wexford yet? No sign of me being called.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 Winter33

Yes I was hoping there would have been an Inspector or HEO that knew the line of work in AGS , but I believe the board were two AO s and the Chairperson had a northern Ireland accent , I have no idea if she was staffline or AGS

Anyway I didnt make the cut this time 😔

Well done to you, hope you got your new role

The AOs were AGS also, their grade does not mean that they have no station experience

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 Winter33

    Fair enough

Had interview yesterday AO and HEO both AGS on board chairperson was external. How long were you waiting for results of interview. Feel like it went ok but you never know

Hi folks how long were people waiting for results for EO interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,490 ✭✭✭Guffy

3 weeks give or take. I would assume it's all dependent on where in a group your being interviewed. First person would have to wait longer than the last I mean.

Hello, I just did an interview today for EO on the Garda, did someone else here also done the same? I wondering also if someone got the job as EO in the Garda and how you find it.

    Thank you 🙏

Same as yourself. Got an email initially saying don't hold your breath, we will get around to you once all the primary areas have been filled. Haven't heard a dickie bird since. Can't be too far away now that they have started interviews already for Dub, Kild and

Did you apply for EO internally or external? I’m assuming external? It all depends on what area you are offered. If it’s a department rather than a station you may not be a supervisory EO which is all the better. If you are offered the position and you’ve never worked in AGS I would advise to have a do some research on the Garda website regarding ranks and structure within the organisation it will definitely help knowing that prior to taking up position

Hi, I recently been offered a pre employment in the AGS as a EO. Could give some info about work in the department instead that in the station directly?

    Thank you in advance
