Its a cloudy, but pleasantly mild and dry, morning in north Longford, so far anyway. 9c. Some light rain forecast for later, but not to much is think.

Wind warning issued for the north for this weekend.

Peak gusts of 50-60 mph will be possible fairly widely, with 60-70 mph in more exposed locations. There is a slight chance of some very strong winds across parts of Scotland, particularly in the west, where gusts of 80-90 mph may be possible in exposed areas for a time.

Unreal the brighter evenings, 4 year old still playing outside.

Hmm I might need to invest in one of those clocks that tells them when it's sleeptime amd morning time because he doesn't believe me that it's nearly bedtime!

Oh make sure they spend as much time outside as they can. There are multi billionaires who want to keep them glued to screens.

Gorgeous afternoon and evening after a dull start. Gorgeous full Pink Moon to the East. Getting chilly.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

We had a strong white frost this morning in north Longford. It was 0c at dawn and you'd think it snowed everywhere was so white. I could see fog banks in the distance but nice and brigh here. Temperatures have risen quickly and it has disappeared really quickly. Starting to cloud over from the west now. Rain expected for later so will just have to make the most of it while it stays dry.

No swallows sighted anywhere yet I'll guess…?

Storm Dave named for Saturday. It appears to have been named by the British Met office. Yellow wind warning issued for the whole of Ireland by Met eireann as a result of Storm Dave.

I posted on the Nature and Bird watching forum. Saw my first swallow on the 31st March. We normally see them about 16th to the 21st of April. Very unusual. Just the one.

Monday & Tuesday dry days in the West. Grey enough mostly but we took the dry condotions and got a lot of time outdoors. Yesterday morning all drizzle muck, finished up after 1pm with heavy showers.

Sunny spells driving to the East after that at 3p.m

Currently spitting rain in the East. Was out for a run on the ramparts earlier. Young lad with me on his bicycle. No wind. Calm. Chose wisely getting out in morning before the poor forecast. When was out this morning wouldn't think such a poor impending forecast.

Now the named storm for Saturday and lots of folk with bank holiday/Easter plans I'm sure. Boo.

Cold, grey and windy in Dublin. I really hate how slow the weather is to pick up at this time of year, March into April feels like such a waste of the longer evenings when it still feels like winter more often than not.

Last year was lovely around now from what I remember though, wall to wall sunshine every day, pity we can't get that more often

Wet day. Cool for the time of year. Malin head the cold spot 6c 2pm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,090 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

I read somewhere that some may be overwintering in the south of Ireland now with the milder winters. I don't know if that's true. But you'd wonder about things now.

Edit, I just found an article from 2022. Could explain it maybe?

Last year April food market in Macreddin had glorious sunshine. Was putting on suncream.

God almight miserable weather heading into Easter weekend, it's not just damp and miserable but cold aswell for the time of year!

A damp day here in Meath but the rain is so light it's barely enough to wet the ground. Looks heavier on the radar.
