Seen the tricolour beside Dolan and got a surprise alright. Wonder why he has changed now along with Mansell as they both have represented Northern Ireland together at World Cups over the years? Fair play to him for making the choice. If this is official I presume along with Mansell that they would both now be eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup should the be ranked high enough?

That's a healthy number of Irish players now on tour as well with Stevie Lennon who gets a look-in now and again.

Lennon should get a call up again for PC7 and PC8 as any call ups will be based on the first 5 CT events already played and he is 4th in the OoM. However to keep getting call ups he'll need to do well in CT events 6-10 at the end of March

Keane Barry has gotten a call up as a reserve to the second European Tour event of the season of the season, the European Darts Trophy which starts tomorrow. This means there are 3 Irish competing - William O Connor, Shane McGuirk and Keane Barry.

Tricky enough draws for all three.

O Connor plays Mesnur Sulojvic with the winner playing Luke Humphries

Barry plays Neils Zonneveld with the winner playing MvG

McGuirk plays Ratajski with the winner playing Gian van Veen

Steve Lennon once again has been called up as a reserve from the challenge Tour for PC 6 and PC 7 next week.

Before that he will have the next lot of Challenge Tour events and will hope to keep his ranking high in the CT OoM in order to keep getting these call ups and be in the mix for a Tour Card/World Championship spot via the CT rankings

CT6 underway. Dylan Slevin with another early exit unfortunately. Will track Irish player progress in the money/rankings stages here.

edit - not a single Irish player made the last 64 and therefore no ranking points or money earned

Keane Barry loses semi final 7-6 to Alan Soutar. Ryan Searle ends up winning the final. Pity that Keane couldnt make the final, but he has improved his chances of keeping his tour card a lot with that run today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,594 ✭✭✭VillaMad

An excellent day for him. He needs a good year as he would lose his tour card if his form from the past year continued, so although it's a long year ahead still, it's a good omen for the events ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,268 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Yesterday lifted him from just inside the top 64 in tour card race to 57th, and over 10K ahead of 65th. It also put him well inside the pro tour spots for the World Championship and the Players Championship.

Loads of darts still to be played but that run takes a lot of pressure off critical thing for him now is to win plenty of round 1 players championship events at a minimum and also qualify for a few more Euro Tours. He got into a recent Euro Tour as a reserve which helped his ranking and his overall ranking now means that even if he loses in the final round of a ET qualifier he still has a decent chance of getting in as a reserve, this happened to William O Connor a fair bit last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,268 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

PC8 today. William O Connor has already lost his first match 6-4 to Gabriel Clemens. Certainly struggling to find the form he showed last year

McGuirk beats Ehlers 6-2 in round 1

Stephen Rosney loses 6-5 to Adam Lipscombe, led 5-3 but lost the last 3 legs, those are the kind of chances he needs to be taking

Steve Lennon with a 6-5 win over Jermaine Wattimena

Niall Culleton loses 6-3 to Thomas Lovely

Keane Barry beats Ryan Meikle 6-5

Brendan Dolan beats Jeffrey de Graff 6-4

Mickey Mansell with a 6-0 win over Bradley Brooks

Another decent run from Keane Barry today. Beaten in last 16 stage. Other Irish players lost in second round

Keane Barry was really unlucky to run into Wessel Nijman today who won the whole thing incidently and Barry played as good as I have ever seen him play the past few days!

Hopefully he can keep it up as he was excellent against Price in the UK Open recently as well and really should of dumped him out before losing the last 5 legs even if Price did play out of his skin in those legs.
