Apparently 800 applications were received. 400 applications the last time an external tax specialist competition was ran in 2024

I got the email just now, they must be sending them out in batches.

    I don't know this

Oh wow, that's a big difference, 800 when 400 were expected. I imagine they will be hoping to drop that number by a lot in the first shortlisting so. Not good news.

I wonder if there will be an aptitude test to try narrow down numbers

Yeah, got the email a few hours later TBF.

800 applications that’s crazy! I would love to know how many roles. Is there anything we could be doing in the meantime to help us prep? Either for an aptitude test or interview. I’m worried if we get called for either we won’t have enough prep time

On the first page of this thread there is a link to the thread about the last competition that would have a lot of the information you are looking for.

I heard shortlisting is taking place this week so hopefully we hear back soon. I’m not too hopeful though with such a large interest

Not looking like this week now!

No, unfortunately not. I'd love to know one way or the other.

Fingers crossed we hear this week!

The AO Graduate competition is moving along even though it was out a few weeks after the HEO competition.

The assessments finished last Monday with the results due out approximately on the 30th March.

Being out first I would have expected the HEO competition to be prioritised.

What are the chances we might hear something this week?

Is the assessment for the HEO or for the AO?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭Shoden

Dont think there's been any assessment yet for heo.

They are very slow with this shortlisting process. I was full sure we would have heard something by now.

Is there anyone in revenue that has insight into this?

there was an AP competition put up a month before this one and the panel has already been created, very strange how this HEO comp is taking so long.

Hi I emailed them yesterday for an update and they came back with the following: Shortlisting is still ongoing. All candidates will be notified of updates throughout the competition as soon as possible.

The AP and AO panels have been formed. I wonder were there many candidates who applied for 2 or 3 of these competitions, and if Revenue recruitment are holding out to see if people are offered positions from those other panels shortly that they might not want an interview then for this competition? Maybe not, but could help with shortlisting then for this competition.

Competitions are run independently, recruitment would not be considering potential candidates on other panels etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 Willow25

That's true, definitely. It was just the last email from recruitment on this competition asking if people still wanted to be considered for shortlisting, and to let them know if you no longer wanted to be considered. People may voluntarily drop out of this one if offered a place on one of the other competitions that are ahead of this one.

I wonder were they concentrating on the internal HEO competition (not revenue specific) first? OOMs for that went out last week so maybe focus will move to this competition now.

Got an email to say I didn't make it to the next stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 O36306

    Sorry to hear that @entryasco

Hopefully everyone gets an update today so we know one way or another

I got an update to say my order of merit but I’m nearly number 180, interviews still have to take place though so that may bring the numbers down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 JJ2026

    I’m just about under 100.

“It is anticipated that the first group of candidates will be called for an in-person interview week commencing Tuesday, 7 April (excluding the Bank Holiday)  Group 1 candidates will receive further details in due course.”

I placed on the OOM in the low 200s. I'm kind of surprised honestly as I wasn't confident I had even done enough to justify myself in anyway shape or form with question 2 section g.

I would imagine I'm to high on the list to even be called for an interview but I can always apply again next time around and work on my application.
