For us, having a dog in the garden keeps the foxes away….

Lidl & Aldi stocked up with eggs this morning. Shelves not as laden as I'd expect

Recently discovered a local person for eggs - you can see the hens wandering about at the back- honesty box at farm gate. There is no comparison whatsoever with shop bought eggs. This thread reminded me that I need to take a short drive at lunch time and stock up.

There is no comparison really with anything home made versus store bought thesedays - not just eggs.

Any veg from your own garden - far far FAR nicer. Home made butter - far nicer. Home made mayonnaise - far nicer.

Its just sadly not practical to do these things.

A couple of months ago I switched to a local guy who deliveries free range eggs every Saturday to the door from his farm. There is no comparison to the so called "Free range" in the shops, and the prices are cheaper as well.

I won't ever go back to shop bought eggs now.

Surely a gap in the market for more home delivery, I guess they need scale and guaranteed demand to make the transit costs work. A chicken and egg situation maybe! :D

Anyone know a good place to get eggs like this around the north Kildare area?

There's allegedly somewhere in my local town but I'm not sure it actually exists.

I was reminded of this thread and the various egg-related conspiracy theories when I saw that my local Aldi was completely out of eggs

Like literally not a carton left

    I suspect the lizard people

IFA claiming that egg shortages appearing on supermarket shelves are a direct consequence of retailers failing to pay producers a sustainable price.. that current farmgate prices cannot support the growing demand for Irish eggs. Indo

    Whereabouts are you?
There are a number of places selling eggs at roadside stalls outside farms e.g. Dunne's Farm Pastured Eggs along the back of Carton (although technically they're in Meath)

They've probably used them all making their anti Tesco ads.
