    Big contrast to recent weather

Tuesday night: Blustery with clear spells and scattered showers, some of which may be of sleet and snow. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees, with fresh to strong and gusty west to northwest winds.

Wednesday: A windy day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers may be of sleet or snow early in the morning. Feeling cold with highest temperatures of just 6 to 9 degrees, with fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds.

Finally got my grass cut and it took double the usual time, the mower struggled at times but got there in the end. A much sunnier day today than I expected and it was nice and mild.

Cleared up to a nicer sunny afternoon here today in Longford. We had a mizzle here this morning and it was miserable enough. Went in to see Longford v Wicklow in div 4 and what a second half from Longford to win by 1 point and get promoted to div 3 for next year. It was a clear and sunny afternoon and really enjoyed being there today.

Mowed the 2 acre paddock at the house in Longford yesterday. Took a few hours. It hadn't been mowed since 2024!

A cool feeling 4c this morning in north Longford. Dry with strong cloud cover. Was in Longford earlier, left home at 6:15, it was bright and barely need for lights. It feels much easier on early starts when the mornings are bright.

Cloudy but dry here in Castlebar but looks drizzly to the NW. Cooler today.

Yikes tomorrow looks horrific in Dublin. Today not terrible. The constant grey gets to me but Saturday and yesterday somewhat were great.

Finally joined the first cut of the year club today, I was getting anxious and having a mulching mower it needs to be pretty dry.

Got up to 13.7C with a few brief sunny spells but an edge to the breeze

Very rough day tomorrow guys. It's typical March weather, summer one day and winter the next. I love the 'lamb' days of March with daffodils and primroses but I hate the 'lion' days with squally winds ,rain and wet snow. Tomorrow the Lion roars.

Yup..…the Lion is well and trully roaring here in Roscommon today 🤮

As predicted, very wet out there this morning in north Longford. Currently 9c. We had strong enough winds last night with rain before bed time and it would skin you., but the wind has died down this morning and it feel mild enough.

Most of Galway and Roscommon must have comfortably breached the rainfall threshold for a yellow rainfall warning…but nothing from ME?? Only "wind" mentioned in their warnings, and it's actually been pretty calm here!

The flash flooding on roads and in fields is certainly the worst we've had any day all winter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,089 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

Yeah, same here in north Longford. Really heavy for over 2 hours. Lots of puddles on roads and running water in 2 places I've been this morning so far. Easing off now.

Flooding around Galway City standing water all over the place rain very heavy since the early hours. ME don't have a clue useless at forecasting last night my other half said the weather charts looked like it was done for children it is so unprofessional.
