Oh I get you now. There are not many lads left to come back is there? Clancy , Gannon, Basquel and Con. Unless some young superstars appear from nowhere. I don’t think the Champo team is going to be much different from the league side.

Anyway as for Salthill bit of a smash and grab there last summer. Doubt the weather will be like that next weekend. I wouldn’t say I am too hopeful.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Yeah Saturday night had a very 2000s feel about it, fast, front foot football, building big scores and folding when the opposition stepped up..

Dublin have to beat Galway by 4 to be safe, that assuming Kerry beat Armagh. I think if there was some confidence for the summer, relegation wouldn't be a problem but optimism for the summer is low right now. Bizarrely they are favourites with the bookies for Leinster! They are 7th favourite for the AI - seems about right, unfortunately.

I don’t think Armagh come into the equation for us - if we beat Galway we finish above them on the head to head

If Armagh beat Kerry head to head is immaterial

Good start by Dublin but early days and given collapse last week, difficult to be overly confident.

    Just heard about Michael Lyster.

    Sad news.

    RIP

That was never a penalty. Justice served. However lazy stupid push by Murchin in the follow up.

didn’t look like a penof from where I was looking right at it. Ref has let a few things go for Galway.

Melee went on all the way to dressingroom. I’m hoping it doesn’t do what it did last week as Armagh seemed to recover more. Scully again in the middle of it.

Ger might have to answer for grabbing the Galway boys ear

Absolutely a joke of a penalty call. 10 out of 10 for the dive.

I'm wondering was it because once the keeper saved it time was up?

Dreadful look for a manager behaving like that. Well deserved ban incoming.

Jesus, some awful point kicking going on. Only 2 points scored this (1 was an incredible, desperation kick on end line) - but about 4 or 5 normally bread and butter points put wide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

    And then a red…

    And then a goal!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,108 ✭✭✭MFPM

Great Goal by McGuinnes but then hits a poor wide...kind of sums Dublin up a little.

Right now, Dublin in Div 2! Need a few scores or Kerry to reel in Armagh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

Everything going over for Galway, all our shots missing.

    In serious trouble now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,108 ✭✭✭MFPM

Yeah, Dublin haven't scored since their goal, same old story for much of the league, can't see out games when leading.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

Need a goal to stay up, spend 2 minutes passing it arounbd like training drill, go for Hail Mary 2 pointer.. headless

Brain dead shooting cost us the game

Ref was dogsh*t but not his fault we couldn’t take our chances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,108 ✭✭✭MFPM

Division 2 it is and in fairness they didn't deserve anything else. It's OK starting rows and such nonsense but have to back it up on the field and they haven't. Even Con hit some poor wides....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,740 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I will be back to blaming “southside softies” at this rate…. 🙈

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Woefull stuff in 2nd half apart from the goal. DIV 2 Is about our standard now.

Ger will rightly get a ban but the GAA need to get a handle on the amount of yahoos on the sideline. That fella deserved a slap being honest, pushing and shoving our players coming off the pitch when he has no business getting involved.

Anyway Div2 fkr a season might be no bad thing for some of the younger lads coming through. Can definitely see some green shoots in how we are trying to play just our shooting needs a bit of work over the next few weeks.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I can see some green shoots in so much as there’s more promising stuff from when we started but there’s also alot to be worried about. In particular, the team going missing when games are in the melting pot. That, along with the really poor missed chances (5 or 6 shocking misses in second half) would leave me concerned there is a weak character among the new players. Maybe a bit of nerves and will go with experience but twice in a row we let strong leads go and both times it seems a scuffle at HT threw the team off.

Solid keeper but the fact we’ve needed them to save so many goal opportunities is a problem. Also, quite often even when we win our kick outs , the player in the ball has barely one option and quite often none.

I’d be writing the championship off. We won’t win Leinster playing like we have and may not even beat Louth. We can’t be full of confidence going into that semi and if we aren’t on it Louth could take us. I don’t see us beating meath as our defence is porous as f**k and we seem to be only able to keep it tight until the 50th min where things can quickly fall apart.

Our discipline could also be an issue , I noticed Scully again in the middle of the HT messing. And our coach getting involved is not great (I like Ger, but it’s not sending a great signal).

Overall I didn’t expect much and haven’t been surprised. I don’t see us getting further then QF , not even sure we will get that far as but for Roscommon game we’ve looked poor. Even Monaghan could of beaten us if they had their shooting boots on.

This is a recalibrate season , so I’m treating it as such but I’m gonna call out poor play as it happens and I’m more worried about us being 00s type of bottlers when it matters then not finding good players.
