Does he lose focus or what? I have never known another pro like him for making a balls of the last hole time after time. Bogey and two doubles in his three rounds this week.

Yeah his final hole seems to kill him all the time....this was a great chance to move up the fed ex table but doesn't look likely now...

    Burning money and points

Another bogey on his final hole today, it's pretty bizarre. Especially when you consider that he managed to par the notorious 17th on all four days.

He's finished now with a score of +8. His aggregate score across the final hole on his four rounds came to +6.

The 18th hole played the most difficult this year at 4.338 average. Highest number of doubles at 34. It is a very tough driving hole and that draw required doesn't suit many players. Too much and you're in the water. Straight or fade and you're in the trees and pine straw.

    Didn't suit Seamus anyway.

Second alternative for this week. I thought he’d get in as expected a good lot not to play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,063 ✭✭✭✭coylemj

He's now first alternate. He was bumped by two players who finished below him in the FexEx Fall series ….

Taylor Moore (121) is a past winner (2023) of the Valspar

Jackson Suber (124) is on a sponsor's exemption

Without those two, Seamus (117) and Matt Kuchar (118) would be in the field.

Brooks Koepka has entered which means that the field size will be increased by 2 spots. That may have happened already but I suspect not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,063 ✭✭✭✭coylemj

That might explain why Power and Kuchar are now in the field.

Justin Lower was third alternate, he's now first.

Funnily enough, Seamus is still on the timesheet for the Monday qualifier. Most likely he will have been warming up on the range when he found out that he is in.

Up and down round. 3 bogies in a row

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,014 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Not a terrible round but puts him under pressure to make the cut this weekend. Has to finish under par today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

going well last half a dozen holes. Just needs to reach the club house

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

    Good solid bogey free round

-3 today to lie 28th currently on -2 with predicted cut at even. Should be able to relax over a few pints tonight.

Good stuff today..hopefully kicks on over the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,154 ✭✭✭paulos53

8th alternate for next week but Koepka's entry will bump him up 2 spots.
There is a big sequence of Majors and Signature events coming up so he could end up waiting 2 months for his next start. That makes it all the more vital to have a strong weekend.

He is going alright so far, have to hope he doesn’t collapse again.

Wont make it onto the time sheet next week I assume to jump 6 spots bar Monday qualifier. I assume just rest up till May unless he can get into Zurich classic. Nothing even on Europe tour unless he fancies a trip to China or India. Can’t see him going to turkey a week before his May event.

Solid round today and if he can get into top 20 will give him a few needed points

Dissapointing start for Seamus today. Yes another Sunday blow out. It must be driving him mad.

    Shocking to see it again

Settled well since but 2 double bogeys are terrible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

Especially when 170 yards out on fairway.

Both doubles are 170 yards shots in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,014 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Top 30...not terrible but unfortunately needs better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

up to 4th alternative. So will need a Monday qualifier

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭tobsey

first alternate now. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t get in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

    On the timesheet now

Replaces Scheffler, nice bit of luck so hopefully a decent week for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭billy3sheets

Let's hope he replaces Scheffler on the podium!

Fair play to Seamus, he's -3 after 14, in a tie for 10th at the moment. I'd say he'd like to be watching the Ireland match. If this goes to penalties, he might be able to watch that.
