Except when the IDF kills an American in the West Bank. That just gets looked into.

A total of 7 civilians were killed in the Gulf regions of Qatar, UAE, Oman, Saudi, Kuwait and Bahrain in the first week.

    Zero civilians killed in Israel

1300+ Civilian deaths in Iran, which is 50% of the civilians killed in 2025 of Ukraine conflict, which was the the deadliest year since it started, also the same amount as the average weekly deaths during the first 6 months of the Gaza extermination and famine.

    EDIT - 12 Israeli deaths.

Lapid has called for all of them to be destroyed to cripple the Iranian economy. It's essentially a re run of the Dahyia(?) doctrine, but i suspect some will try to jusify doing so nonetheless

I wonder also if controlling the oil supply from Iran and Venezuela is a way of starving China, but I'm not savvy enough in geopolitics to speculate on that.

5% of daily world oil demand (China consumes 16% of global production) went to China alone from gulf countries alone

90% of Irans oil went thru this island

All this because Trump wants to steal their oil?

Looks like it according to the US energy dominance Director. What a name for a government department, " it's all a game "

As a previous poster alluded to it's not just about controlling the oil, it's about trying to weaken and isolate the second biggest economy in the world. America likes being first. Russia wins in the short term due to partial sanctions relief and higher oil prices, China it's main ally loses longer term- that's the plan anyway

That’s one of the aims, another is chaos {and possibly a civil war} which is a feature of the Trump regime not a bug

there a few sizeable islands in the Gulf that I would not be surprised if the US seizes and builds up as bases and land based aircraft carriers (taking a page out of Chinese South China Sea island base building book) also in process removing need to ask for permission from anyone next time they want to attack Iran or anyone else in mid east

Tho now that Iran foolishly attacked neutral countries that distanced themselves from this war they wouldn’t have any trouble being invited in.

There are 5-6 large island several right on the straits which I would not be surprised if they are seize with locals resettled in the Putin style, Trump loves his real estate “deals”

Israel has according to themselves, had access to Iranian traffic cameras, CCTV networks and even if we just take the evidence of the decapitation strikes on Khameini as indication of their penetration of Iranian security, the inside track on Iranian security apparatus for years.
Complete access to the surveillance networks that Iran uses to police its people.
Yet, not an iota of evidence other than low angle shots of the morgues and reports from barely disguised propaganda that gets republished in western media with that media presented as the source.

    So with that in mind.
Why haven't Israel or the US presented the evidence of the Regime's bloodthirsty crackdown resulting in the 33000 deaths?
Why when if the evidence exists, are we relying on guesses and opinion?

I have no doubt that 0000's have died in the crackdown but I have serious concerns regarding the veracity of 33000.
Further, affording any weight to the numbers of Iranian deaths at the hands of the Regime as a casus belli?
When the War itself is the culmination of 40yrs + of Nethanyahu's career?
Belies a deep lack of analysis.
Also, the irony of the Israelis & the US deciding to try and take the moral high ground in any invasion and it being afforded any weight at all?
    Is ludicrous.

Trump was rattling in the news yesterday about hitting Iran more. Iran retalilated last week from the airstrikes they received so hitting them more is not the answer.

Also I was watching BBC news and a new leader was appointed or elected in Iran. There's no name or details. There's only a guess as to who it could be but if true he could be more hardcore. Iran is never going to back down and Trump is so ignorant with his bullying.

What's happened here is a classic case of a wildly inaccurate figure being put out into the media from biased parties (in this case an exiled news outfit) and certain people jumping on it as fact, despite the obvious problem of it being a figure that was estimated long, long, before any kind of actual accounting had been done. And once that accounting had started the inaccurate estimate stays live and those that don't want to pay no attention to the revised and more accurate figure.

So far that figure remains under 10,000. Roughly around 7000 for all dead according to organisations who are gathering names. I've no doubt that it'll get higher as more names are accounted for.

That's is THAT high should make everyone pause for thought at the sheer brutality of the crackdown by government forces on protesters as it's a shocking figure in itself.

It still won't stop certain types from endless repeating this 30,000+ figure though. Because, frankly, that's the one that sounds "better" to them.

Everything that happens in the Middle East as far as the US is concerned has something to do with oil, one way or the other.

Maybe they are forced to call force majeure and shut down their rare earth operations for 6 months or soyabeans or something ?

China's "homegrown" energy production represents 85% of its consumption and is growing @4.6% per year. In 6 months it's homegrown growth replaces Iran and Venezuela's oil by other means, yes they will pay more like everyone else, which means everything will cost more to buy and they make 40% of everything.

If they need to buy oil, they will go to replace Gulf oil elsewhere like everyone else will which pushes prices up and makes the remaining 80% of the pie smaller for everyone to eat from. The big one is India who bought 50% of it's imports from the Gulf yet only has 20 days of reserves.

Everyone knew Iran could close Hormuz, but no one expected them to do it straight away. If they go down they will take the whole global economy with them, may as well. In 3 weeks things will start to break.

Where exactly is this “elsewhere” the size of Saudi Arabian production

Awful lot of hand waving there especially since if there was an elsewhere at this massive rate (most of the gulf oil went to China as illustrated earlier in thread) China would have bought from them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,437 ✭✭✭brickster69

Oil is there, they just have to offer more and people will sell. That's when they run out of 1 billion barrels of reserves they have, it is 200 days worth of what they imported.

What happens if they stop rare earth exports for 200 days to save on energy ?

More wishy washy hand waving, only way gulf oil gets out now is via couple of pipelines {I bet gulf states kicking themselves now for spending billions on line cities instead of more pipelines} or under US navy escort, who sure as hell won’t escort majority of oil which used to go to China

Anyone sending “dark fleet” tankers {like the one you were celebrating being hit earlier in thread} will lose the ships to drones under no protection or they will simply be taken over and seized like the 25+ Russian tankers seized this year already.

Turns out a world without rules and laws and “spheres of influence” sucks eh

Re 200 days tangent, Other countries start extracting and processing rare earths, they aren’t rare as the name implies. China ended up with majority of processing because they don’t care about environmental impact and rest of world was happy to put up with this greenwashing charade

Also in 200 days Iran would resemble a larger version of Gaza 😞 if they continue to turn down ceasefire and continue attacking all their neighbours and neutrals

The US is not offering a ceasefire so how could Iran accept one? The US is demanding unconditional surrender.

I dont think it will be possible to turn Iran into another Gaza given the differentials in size but it is a good analogy to show bombing can achieve very little.

    In this new world that the CRINKs wanted {and their media and troll armies called for} since at least naughties where;

    • might means right
    • strong get “sphere of influence” to colonise and carry out atrocities
    • f**k rule of law and treaties and international agreements
    • democracy and common decency and human rights are considered woke and evil

It’s no surprise that’s the stance of the Trump regimes takes, after all it’s straight out of his Kremlin bosses playbook no?

Iran should immediately cede 25% of their country to minority separatists, completely demilitarise, denazify itself, handover all its natural resources to imperialists and hold elections

Am I doing this right? /S

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,890 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

So no ceasefire is offered as I have said.

I really cant make head nor tail of the rest of your post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,437 ✭✭✭brickster69

The thing is it's not the rules it is how they are applied. You have people screaming Trump is going to invade Greenland and screaming from the rooftops how it breaks international law. Yet 2 nuclear states who are complicit in a live streamed genocide and twice attack another country during the middle of negotiations. Then the first thing they do is carry out a bombing campaign resulting in the death of a spiritual leader of over 300 million people and 180 little girls sat at their desks blown to pieces.

Where is the outrage, where are the bone crushing sanctions, or do they only apply to some some and not others ?

Speaking out of both sides of the mouth I see

If I check your 7255 posts will I find a single condemnation of a nuclear state called Russia carrying out genocide and atrocities for 5 years now? Or in Syria before that??

30,000 Iranian killed by their regime and reported by Iranians themselves extensively is two orders of magnitude larger tragedy than the murder at the school, where is the outrage??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭bored65

No ceasefire was offered because you have two deplorable blocks who are mirror image of each other slugging it out, at best we might get years or bull crap talks that go nowhere like we seen in the other war involving the CRINKs

With neutral countries who previously helped mediate like Oman or Qatar or Jordan being attacked too shrinking the room for a ceasefire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,890 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Then why did you say Iran should accept a ceasefire to avoid becoming a new Gaza. Was that a sarcastic statement?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭bored65

That post literally has a /S in it

I’m using sarcasm to highlight the absurdity of the world the CRINKs wanted, they wanted a world without rules and laws and now crying about the lack of those while attacking countries and people who don’t want to be dragged into their conflict

From checking the marine traffic website the only ships Iran is letting through are flagged as being either Chinese owned and crewed, or with consignments for China.

Plus China has been building massive strategic crude reserves since 2008 to prepare for such a scenario. Even though fuels (crude, refined and LNG) are now the USAs biggest export their strategic reserves were not topped up after the Ukraine invasion shock, so this commodity price jump is going straight to the pump.

Because of high fuel taxes in Europe we have some room to drop rates as a buffer, like we did for hauliers after the Russian invasion.

BTW, before Maduro was sold off Venezuela accounted for around 0.4% of Chinese crude imports, so zero impact. Trump's attacks are merely wars of mass distraction rather than any greater geopolitical strategy. Coming closer to the mid term he'll unleash his ICE forces into blue states to cause mayhem that he'll then use to cancel the ballots.
