A CB does still have to do all the defensive CB work though… given the choice i'd much rather a CB there if possible. I think Szobo will impact the game just as much from RB as he would from CB anyway (probably more as he'll have more license to step forward with Grav covering).

Generally speaking we've started a little sharper than last week anyway. Still need to up the tempo further though.

For a fella who's so quick, he's ironically really slowing things up at times though. Would love to see him given the ball on the run and attack someone immediately at pace, but most of the time he's basically stopping in front of the defender and doing a few step-overs before making a move, and giving them loads and loads of time to get set up behind in the meantime. Needs to change it up a bit, or it becomes a bit too predictable.

I'm hoping Wirtz coming on at some stage might unlock Rio to be a bit more effective, passing to him on the move in a more dangerous inside position, rather than giving it to him wide and hoping he'll make something happen. Let him beat the first man without the ball, and then recieve the pass with the defence immediately on the back foot.

Players have been making the odd little darting run in behind, but no-one has been trying to find them. Inevitably it just gets recycled back round the outside instead of trying to punch through and take a risk.
