Sure you can put in what you like. They can't make you spend that amount.

True, but it gives the impression, those most likely to be successful will be those who will spend the most. I get there is money to be made but why ask if its not commercially driven? It doesn't scream in the interest of the fans.

I've gotten an offer of hospitality tickets same as others - it is interesting to see that they are cheaper than entry level to Bethpage ($750)…

Not saying I'm getting any but suggests the "standard" ticket price will at least resemble something reasonable…

Luke Donald is staying on as captain for Adare.

I prefer the one and done for captains. I would assume they don’t feel other players who wouldn’t be a player going forward and maybe chosen as a captain like Molinari will never get it. Assuming he hasn’t rejected it. Don’t like players getting asked their opinion as its a pointless question as they’re not going to say no

2 term is fine, but i think logically it makes sense to let their first event be a home event where they have the advantage.

Donald should have stepped aside for Adare

He's obviously a brilliant captain. However, I'm surprised he stayed for another term. I thought once he had achieved a home & away win he'd basically cemented his status in Ryder cup history. It's a gamble now because if he doesn't win it'll take a small bit of gloss off his previous achievements.

But I've no doubt he's a highly driven individual and he probably doesn't think of the negatives just sees the opportunity of doing 3 in a row.

To captain the team to 3 Ryder cups would be a serious achievement.

Europe lost so many captains to LIV so I can see why they want him to stay on before Rose takes over.

I think that could be a big part of it. I'd reckon behind the scenes Rose was being penciled in for Adare, but that ended up a non runner with the way he's played last couple of years

Daft Donald staying on - not fair either , lots of other golfers of that generation will be forming an even larger queue. Is an Irish event too - so was room to open the door for some Irish link too. Paddy made a balls of taking it on in US in hindsight - if in reality Paddy is a sort of unusal lad for a team concept.

I think if LIV hadn't happened, no way he stayed on, or maybe even got it in the first place

Not sure why posts saying no to Luke, who (of caliber) can replace him right now?

yep, there is absolutely no one jumping out of the page, a couple of maybe’s with the likes of the Molinari brothers etc, Justin Rose, but we never know what’s happening behind the scenes, maybe Edwardo is happy doing his stats etc, sometimes in real life situations those types of guys are no good at relating to people as well and making team bonds which as we’ve seen is more important in the RC than a lot of the other stuff… all mere speculation, but the honest answer is that Europe haven’t really got anyone else nailed on to be captain at present, Donald has the pedigree, has done amazing in 2 wins, probably even overperformed, the likes of GMac, Poulter, Westwood,Stenson are totally out of the running at present, and the bottom line is that the RC when it takes place especially in Europe is so crucial to the well being of the European Tour as the profit it makes basically helps the tour survive, without it the tour would be on its knees… And that’s why the powers that be go for the present proven incumbent, it keeps the interest high and therefore the money keeps on flowing for the tour

Francesco molinari was the name that seemed favourite to get appointed.

Maybe Jimenez, Lawrie might have missed the opportunity or turned it down. Not saying they be my pick but I think if players like Bjorn let’s say gets it they’ve done just as much as him

He's mad to stay on. He was a good Ryder cup player, but is now one of the best ever captains. If we wins in adare that will barely improve his record, but if he doesn't it will damage it significantly. And America will be gunning for us. We broke the duck and got the away win, but I wouldn't be surprised if that duck has been broken for the tournament, not just the Europeans.

A long way to go before Adare and a lot of golf to be played, qualifying hasn’t started for Europe yet, but USA having no away wins this century is a startling statistic when you consider the make up ranking wise of their teams over that period
