This just isn't true no matter what way you spin it. There is no law that can be broken that would allow you to be locked up for your beliefs and "this country" isn't in the habit of jailing people for no good reason.

If I've missed it and there is indeed some law that has led them to being locked up for their beliefs, you might reference it here for us all to review.

Delighted for the pair of them. Thoughts and prayers for Sean and the lads left home alone.

It’ll do nothing whatsoever to curtail their behaviour but it’s definitely warranted.

They are locked up for their beliefs, they believe the law doesn't apply to them, but it applies to literally everyone else.

presume they’ll be picked up at their shop in Castlebar and be dragged out kicking and screaming.
I’d a feeling from when Cregan let Enoch out to prepare his defence he knew he was giving them enough rope to hang themselves. He can now point to every accommodation he has made that has been ignored and act on it. He knew their form and rather than judging them on past behaviour he gave them one more chance. Knowing that they wouldn’t take it. When he ruled against them. He had fresh evidence, not evidence from old cases.
when the Burke’s inevitably appeal, it will be on that narrow window of evidence that Cregan had created and the COA will have to rule on that only. And inevitably side with the HC.
was gonna post this a few weeks ago but I suspect the Burkes montitor and post in this thread. Didn’t want to give them the heads up, not that they’d take it!

    Now, where’d I leave my tinfoil hat…

While I agree with enochs initial objection , sending the burke women to prison was needed. Their behaviour towards the court had been abhorrent.

they'll be sitting at home wondering why there is no dinner on the table.

His issue with transgender but after that he went off the rails both in his behaviour towards the school principal and more recently the court. There is no justification for either of the latter 2.

Hopefully some time in Dochas will soften the womens attitude but sadly I doubt it. They'll be worse than ever.

I note the perjury nonsense was thrown straight out, despite the wailing of a poster here about how Enoch had got them on the ropes with it…

    His issue with transgender

His issue stemmed from nothing more than bigotry based on lies and scaremongering.

I doubt you agree with that.

Well there's the belief and there's the objection. He had no business verbally objecting beyond initially being told the school policy.

Its a bit like the social media comments saying he'll eventually successfully sue the state for millions.

Did I read it right - they didn't appear in court today? Is that because there was a high probability that they would be arrested on the spot and taken to prison? So they are somewhere at home in Mayo. Will the gardai now have to hunt them down to arrest them.

Did the judge say they can't appear at any more of Enochs court sittings? Was there an order applied to them to prevent them from appearing at any more of court sittings in relation to Enoch? Hopefully there was an order because that would be stronger than a suggestion because they will probably likely break that court order which will order see them go back to prison.

I love how Judge Cregan zoned in on top of Ammi being a solicitor and questioned that because really her being solicitor, that should have helped the whole family not to get into trouble with the courts. She just did the opposite.

I would be in some agreement with the theme of Burke's initial objection: being requested/demanded (delete as appropriate!) to refer to someone in a manner that is fundamentally against your legally held beliefs.

In the specific incidence of transgenderism, I wouldn't have any issue with refering to someone as 'he' or 'she' as per their wishes.

But if it was something that I felt strongly about, e.g. being forced to use honorific titles for members of the clergy like "your grace", I wouldn't be compliant.

He said he would consider banning them from future court appearances.

His initial objection was the school was pushing transgenderism onto the students.

I'd love to know what law backs that absolute scutter?

Have you a link to it?

This story just keeps getting better. We need the Southpark lads to come up with an episode about this lot.

What will they put her doing while she's in jail? Can't see her scrubbing the jacks anyway.

So that's Martina and Ammi off to the Dochas later. Good conditions there, they'll be grand. Curry on a Wednesday, fish on a Friday.

She might be a good cleaner or maybe the kitchen or laundry.

What stated as an issue about his work has become a situation where he and members of his family are in contempt of court and going to prison for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,088 ✭✭✭KaneToad

Apologies if I mispoke, "one" of his initial objections...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,384 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Hear on the news they have three weeks to appeal.

    Expect an appeal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,671 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

There was no good faith objection, even if there was there is no law that makes one immune from bullying and harassment in schools or any work place.

Go over to Facebook journal.ie account and read the comments.

For once all of the comments are just like this thread. People just fed up of the Burkes carry on. I didn't read them all but nearly all that I read really condemns the Burkes.

If that was last week or any other time all the comments would be in favour of the Burkes.

I know it was said here before that it's all bots with those replies. Are they running a bot style mission from their home and they are too in shock to reply on line? Something odd happening for sure.

I never said anyone was immune from bullying & harassment.

You mean that he'd have to recognise a boy as a being a girl? Nothing false or scaremongering about that request at all. He refused to accept it. No issue there. I won't accept a person's delusion as being my reality either.

Trans people are as real as you.

The only delusion is people refusing to accept that reality.
