the only way the gaa can help in my opinion is not through extra funding but to make sure the minority sport is not being walked on , it happened in laois with eddie brennan and it happened in offaly before that with a crazy pro football chairman from edenderry that nearly ruined hurling in the county

meath , kildare and laois all have strong hurling bases to work on , yes some of them are duel clubs but they defiantly have the numbers to be more competitive then they are , i remember about 25 years ago kildare winning a few all ireland b titles under age and expected them to make the breakthrough then but it never happened , we have seen it here in clare with davey fitz trying to stop clare football getting any money off the county board in his time as manager , its this kind of stuff thats holding back hurling in football counties

what dublin want is us to beat wexford in order for them to pip them , they have carlow , down and antrim left , carlow will have a big say in both games in fairness but you would imagine they will come up short in both of them , which means dublin will probably need clare to beat wexford in ennis

Waterford really should've beaten Killkenny in Nowlan Park. They're bound to get out of the group stage in Munster eventually. Of all the games Cork will be playing in Munster this year, Waterford in Walsh Park is the game i'm worried about the most. Cork would want to go into that game fully switched on. Any complacency and it could be very costly indeed.

I agree. Waterford will be hard to beat in walsh park for cork and tipp. They'll need de burca, prunty and Patrick fitz back and dessie at the top of his game. He gave a few lovely passes yesterday .

Probably missing the real star quality that Limerick cork and clare have though

Ah come on, that is bullshit. On the night Collins had so much Confidence in Dalton, that right through the first half he never pucked a single ball down between himself and Hayes. From his appearance over the past decade with Limerick, against really proven opponents, either as a back or forward, Hayes never threw himself down, why would he bother doing it against Dalton.

Hayes made the assumption that black cards essentially didn't exist any more which seemed to be the case at the time.

That was a free and yellow in 99% of games that season

6 football matches being televised this weekend and one hurling match.......

Looks like Sunday could be a washout. Could be a few postponements

I came on here to say the same. Disgraceful tbh. Great work to convince us a tv licence should be paid...

Well seeing as football is the much bigger sport yes it is convincing more people to pay their TV license. Not that most people jump to TV license in this situation at all.

Cork must have done ferocious training since the tipp game considering all their absentees. Especially as most of them played in that game ( except harnedy). Although joyce, o mahony, p connelly and Brian Hayes returning balance that somewhat. Nowlan park will be a fair different tomorrow from the carpet like surface of puc. 50 /50 contest.

Galway waterford will be a slog with rain forecast all day for the west. Waterford panel seems to be getting stronger weekly. Although no sign of dessie on the line out.

Galway will likely go down if they don't win tomorrow. No daithi , gavin lee, Fleming or Rory burke . A concern I'd have for Galway is that rabbitte and niland are playing every match. With them being u20 and an intense schedule of matches at both grades, you'd think they could do with a few weeks off.

If Cork are on form there is no hope of a 50/50 game. Ide say Cork by 5 or 6.

Home advantage should see Galway just about do it.

Big day for Dublin too. Gonna need all 6 points to for a chance at promotion and away to Antrim is probably the hardest game left.

Kilkenny in Nolan Park is always tough for Cork.

    It will be close contest.

Wind with Kilkenny in the second half and Cork are only 6 up at ht, makles it interesting.

Nice goal to give Cork a 7 point lead with 20 to go. Some great hooking by Kilkenny.

The irony of a throw leading to a goal against cork!

They got a goal themselves from one, so it cancels out.

An enjoyable game. Always nice to beat Kilkenny. A few good performances.

Cork have gotten very good at throwing the ball.

It's beyond a joke at this stage

It's no wonder other teams don't follow suit….. oh wait…..

VVery Impressive performance by Cork. No e of the shenanigans of previous years. They won't be easily beaten this year. All kilkenny forwards can do, is charge into defenders to draw frees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

Hayes was very good again and Cork really need him to stay fit. The goalkeeper position is still an area of concern, though. As for Kilkenny, they look a very average side at the moment.

Kilkenny did well to keep it competitive and turn it into a dogfight. Decent contest.

I was at it, and I’m not sure how it came across on TV but the weather was absolutely atrocious. Very hard to play in tha.

Absolutely woeful standard of camera work for the Galway Waterford highlights. Most of it zoomed so far out you could barely see it.

    Pathetic stuff from RTE

i think it was 11 championship starters from cork and 9 for kilkenny , them players missing do make a huge difference , especially in the full back line , kilkenny were the more physical team but the quality of ball into the forwards was really poor
