Especially at 12.15am. Would they not let you in?

1st post and its this. Why should they reduce admission costs and what issues have Maynooth residents experienced with door policy?

2nd thing you do is head to boards.

1st thing you do is set up a Boycott Roost page.

Then at 12.11am you set up a boards account to promote it.

Your insta page is an embarrassment and your protests will go nowhere ☺️

    Has L'Art du Chocolat closed?

It's listed as "Permanently Closed" on Google Maps.

I don't live in Maynooth. I'm just curious.

New place opened where the school uniform shop is to be. Tech Rise, looks like mobile phone accessories etc

Outcome of all the cafe closures is that, despite it being January and lots of people being broke, it's basically impossible to find anywhere to sit down to get lunch this weekend.

Traditional music from Brady's Clockhouse features in the first episode of the new series of Geantrai on TG4 this Sunday at 11pm.

Saw something on Maynooth Notice Boards about an afterschool on Main St that they're aiming to be in place by end of January - wonder if that's whats going next to Ely rather than the previously thought cafe?

That has planning for a cafe and has put the commencement notice in for that planning, so thats extremely unlikely. It's probably upstairs somewhere

I'd say that's Maynooth Montessori which is down the road at the side of The Leinster Arms/Mantra/Red Door

What's with these types of shops opening in every main street in Ireland. They never seem to have any customers but manage to pay the rent. Are they really money laundering operations, like most barber shops?

I bought a power bank in it but they wouldn't take card, only cash.

Good video. I think I've raised before and some agreed and some didn't, but the canal / greenway has so much potential and we should be putting down better surface and lights so that it's attractive for people in Kilcock and beyond to use this route to get to Maynooth instead of cars. Especially beneficial for students too who may not get accomodation in Maynooth and have to stay late and it's dark getting home.

Apparently the small section of ring road through Mullen Park and Griffin Rath has been connected and opened (saw on Facebook, haven't been that way myself)

Peter Melrose had a great piece (I'm not sure if it was linked already) explaining how some of the ring road sections aren't going to help relieve traffic issues any time soon. (Also some thoughts on local democracy that I would tend to agree with.)

    https://petermelrose.substack.com/p/where-is-the-ring-road

My own feeling on the ring road is that unless you put some modal filters or similar measures on Main Street when it's complete, the congestion in the village will continue.

Without watching the video yet, my own take has always been that the ring road won't make the town centre any less busy, it'll just make some other journeys somewhat more palatable. And possibly no quicker, just less annoying.

Making the town centre less busy needs far more drastic interventions to actually stop people driving through it.

Any ring road will help to some degree. The opening from Lidl to Griffin Rath will do something for traffic, it will have less cars travelling down to Maxol. That is some kind of relief, not huge, but it will help.

What we need are measures to get across the town. Motorway to college (Moyglare, Parsons St), MTFC to MEC (Parsons St), routes to Tesco (Moyglare, Parsons St). Those are the areas that need resolution, a ring road that doesn't address those isn't really going to make a meaningful impact.

It would be interesting to know where most of the traffic coming from Tesco through Main Street is actually going. Any of the existing rat runs/routes that avoid Main Street are quicker 99% of the time, particularly when coming from the Leixlip side/Tesco.

I go from the Rathcoffey Road, through Main Street, to Tesco and back at least 3 weekdays a week, around lunchtime (going to the gym).
It's the quickest way generally. Going towards Tesco is quicker than coming back.
Going the old Dublin Rd, backroad to the Celbridge Rd, in around Maxol/cutting through Lawrence Ave, up to the link road and its 4second long green filter light that lets about 3 cars through before turning orange, coming around past Newtown shops, onto the Rathcoffey Rd, is absolutely not quicker than just going through the Main St, under normal circumstances.

If there's some kind of clusterfuck and traffic is backed up all the way to Tesco roundabout (or to Bond Bridge on the opposite journey), then I'll go that way.

Opening up the Mullen Park route should make it quicker if I have to go that way, no more joining the queue of traffic to go towards Maxol to get onto the Celbridge Rd.

True, the Rathcoffry road, or out the Kilcock road, would struggle to be quicker when it's busy, but I can't help feeling a lot of traffic coming from Tesco could easily use a different route and avoid Main Street.

    Great piece.

Some of the things he talks about are exactly the reasons why even this Mullen Park-Griffin Rath section took so long to open, most obviously, the (permanent) county council and the lack of binding requirements in the planning approvals for these developments.

The old motor factors on the main street which is being renovated has a for let sign up. It was rumored it was being taken over by BaaBaa Cafe but alas doesn't look like it.
