They are deffo replacing the domes that house the existing system. From the installation video I've seen it is the new starlink dome that is being used. Once this first install is proven to be a success it will be the template for all other installs and they will come quick and fast later in the summer.

Will EI-EIN (and subsequent installs) have the Starlink WiFi service enabled once it's back operating, or will it be without WiFi until they officially "launch" the service later in the year?

Or is it being installed alongside the existing system for now on the TA planes?

taking a guess but I would imagine it will be in use on the aircraft otherwise the aircraft will have no WiFi as the old system is removed.

Aer Lingus will resume LAS a few weeks earlier on Oct 2nd. The aircraft will be from DEN which had the 2026 season reduced.

as someone who has grumbled about about Aer Lingus in recent years, I have had seven flights over the last three months in business and economy (TA and Europe)!and have been reasonably impressed. Definitely not in the league of Qatar or even Air France, but on a par with KLM and Delta, and better than United and BA.

From an Irish POV but based in the US that's what I'm anecdotally hearing among my wider group, they're thinking twice about their Europe vacations - they would all be solidly in the 80th percentile or greater household income over here so very much the middle class. I was in Madrid for the NFL game in November with a group of about 20 (many of whom flew EI via DUB) and there was a decent amount of sticker shock when they saw what transactions were translating to in USD versus a year prior - and Madrid is far cheaper than Dublin.

I get the inclination to look at EI as primarily bringing people to DUB but in my mind and the minds of my group over here they're a lower cost shuttle from secondary US cities to Europe, a sort of elevated Icelandair if you will. If you can squeeze in a weekend in Dublin that's great (and I can guarantee you no one is going for the weather in the summer) but most folks are going for the < $700 RT to Paris, Madrid, Rome etc - if you have to connect anyway to get there (from BNA/IND/BDL for example) then may as well do the long haul component from your local area and also get the benefit of pre check.

I think its a clever strategy from EI given they'll have a cohort doing P2P anyway between the US MNCs and generally just how Irish people like to travel to the US and have the means to do so.

Anyway that's my POV from the US here with my Irish hat on, always good to get different perspectives nonetheless!

I saw some Spanish folks on their holidays last summer doing the Waterford Greenway. 20 years ago it was hard to imagine Spanish coming to us for their summer holidays

Anyone know if this is a glitch? EI are selling economy for more than business on DUB-CUN, is there a reason for that?

I would imagine so as they’ll only be loading the winter schedules to the website and will probably be tinkering around with things yet.
I doubt economy is sold out already on that flight unless a travel agent has bulk bought a block of seats

could be refundable fully flexible economy versus fully restricted business class.

I got business to Toronto last year for about €20 more than the economy fare - both prices being around the €950 mark.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Snowstorm hitting the US East Coast.

2 TATLs cancelled yesterday. (Plus MAN-JFK)

    6 cancelled today.

Can’t see it myself unless Ireland starts ordering loads of aircraft carriers and similar. An interesting destination and I hope to pass it on a road trip some day but hard to see how it would be an origin or destination for many European travellers, local Population is relatively small and heavily skewed towards US military. Airport itself has few useful connections.

I would agree with that analysis. Especially with IAD and RDU relatively nearby (in US terms)
But with subsidies EI/FI could well allocate a narrowbody 3 times a week.

looks like it could be close to returning 🤞

Notably, the MAN-JFK-MAN rotation cancelled due to snowstorm was the last ever scheduled Aer Lingus UK JFK flight out of Manchester.

According to that article their plan is to use Dublin or KEF as a connection point for the rest of Europe, London predominantly. More routes out of Dublin than KEF but also more congestion and likely higher landing fees. They could also tap in to a bit of tourism from the Americans going to Ireland and going the opposite way you could connect to the west coast, New York and even Cancun. It's actually not a bad idea for Cork or Shannon airports to be getting an oar in for if they wanted to

Landing gear looks shiny and new lol! Good to see her back. As a play on the reg I’ve christened her “Large Thump”. I do that with a lot of aircraft tbf.
