In summary, China is a country of short cuts and saving face with huge corruption which means it's not a question if it works but that it looks good that matters. I could go on with other examples outside the military of painting cliff sides green, planting fake fields to look like they are farming well, stapling leafs on trees in cities to make them look healthy etc. because that what the big bosses want to hear. That reality is different from what's reported because there's a difference in culture; in many ways this is Ukraine invasion by Russia all over again. Putin was told how ready the hardware and troops were, how easy it was going to be etc. and the same thing would play out if Winnie the Pooh tries to go to war; he'll been told how awesome and ready the Chinese armed forces are when the reality is going to be a stark contrast to the promises given. This is the difference to grasp; it's not about reporting reality but reporting what the big bosses wants to hear and then grab as much profit as you can while doing so; if it looks good it's met the requirements.

No; they have 1.3 billion barrels on paper but I'd bet a lot of that is not actually there in practice and with China's current consumption rate (outside war) at 16.4 million barrels a day that's 79 days worth of oil before they run out. China's own production would about cover the military operation usage assuming nothing happens with it (like say oh drones flying in like Ukraine showed in Russia?). Neither can Russia increase their pipeline volume to China (already at max capacity) assuming the pipeline don't suddenly spring a leak. So yea, China would actually be quite worried about their oil volumes and very quickly at that. When you import 70% of your consumption that route of inbound oil becomes important very quickly or your whole country shuts down.

100%; but unlike China I highly doubt someone in the Irish government is being told we're self sufficient and ready to take on the British Islands with our new hypersonic weapons and they would welcome our troops with open arms. And this ties back to the comment that China would kick something off with the USA because of the bombing of Iran which is what I called out as silly nonsense and gave the reasons why China would not bother (as Iran does not matter to them as well as the purely practical issue of the oil import route that can easily be blocked by the American navy).
