Lille in the last 16 anyway.

Lille for Villa in the Europa so we don’t have to worry about Benni McCarthy for now.

Need plenty of Premier League points added before that starting tonight. Hopefully we can find a bit of speed in our passing and stretch them tonight in a way we haven’t recently. I don’t think Wolves are set for deep defending the way some of the teams we have been poor against were but they have plenty of energy and will take over around midfield if we are not passing well and with pace.

yeah not the side of the bracket we would have wanted- Lyon should be pleased. I’d also agree that it’s probably Lille, Roma and then probably Porto or Forest before a final most likely against them (Lyon) but who knows.

Unfortunately not many matches there were I’d expect Unai to put out anything but his strongest side (outside of rotating the usual suspects- Maatsen/Digne - Mings/Torres etc maybe even Ollie / Tammy

Think Tammy should start tonight 3 points would be priceless just need to get on the front foot and not leave it to the last few minutes to score.

Yeah you wouldn’t expect too many games to be finalised and won over in the first leg (all away from home) so largely speaking it’s 18 cup finals, starting tonight.

Not a hope this squad could have added 4 more actual cup games into that schedule so Bizot’s craziness probably will end up being beneficial

Next 2 games I think are crucial - we play bottom of the league side tonight, and then Chelsea on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Chelsea - who I feel are the flakiest of our chasers between them, Pool and Utd - have Arsenal on Sunday.

So, on paper, there is the real potential there for us to open up a 12 point gap to them by Thursday morning.

Just need to actually do it on the pitch!

Ollie starting tonight anyway, I’m hoping there will be a bit more space from Wolves for him to operate in. Digne starting so we won’t be stretching them by pushing behind the back line. Expect us to play the same style as the last few games so it’s going to be how well we move the ball can we get a bit of pace into it. Pau starts so I guess Digne gives a bit more protection there.

Surprised Digne got the spot back and Ollie kept his spot.

Yeah, but Pau and Sancho start, so at least Bailey isn't on, and we've a defender that can pick out a pass (no offense to Mings, he's been solid)

Alysson back on bench as well

It’s a must win anyway, no injuries would excuse dropping points in this situation.

Looks like he is managing minutes, with Chelsea in mind, if it was a Cup Final, Digne, Bundeia, Watkins wouldn't be starting. Sports science doesn't apply to Rogers, he is some machine, I can't remember a game he hasn't started bar some dud Europa game and in that he was probably brought on. Aside from being a huge talent, he is always fit, he has some price tag now.

AH Ollie, 2 seasons ago that's buried.

And then a free header for Pau wasted

Wolves are so open at times, and look like they couldn't afford studs either, and we're creating chances.

But just, as usual these days, no real killer touch or finish

    Miserable weather though

Watkins looks done at the top level. I'm not sure what more Unai needs to see. It's like playing with 10 men at the moment.

We've Just forgotten how to score, its start of the season all over again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,362 ✭✭✭pavb2

The injuries to McGinn, Tielemans and Kamara have completely changed the way we play. Rogers can’t do it all by himself so we need better contribution and quality from Onana, Sancho, Buendia and Ollie

Should be able to get 2 in the 2nd half, they look very poor and aren’t defending really deep. I can’t say I think it’s going to happen. Maybe Maatsen to run in behind and stretch them a bit, or Alysson.

If they don’t win tonight they can forget top 5. Every performance seems to be flat at the minute, they need to find some energy

Buendia and Watkins are way off the pace tonight.

    Wheels coming right off here

Digne let's that come in again without any pressure, not sure the touchback was ment but they are 1 up

I'm wondering if I'm watching a different game to the manager. We look totally bereft of ideas going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 462 ✭✭cgorzy

Plenty of time but wouldn’t fancy us to get 1 and we need to win. We’re so poor on the ball we can’t put them under any pressure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

And no sign of response or reaction from the players...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

Maatsen and Abraham on - should have started

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,193 ✭✭✭Panrich

20 minutes. Surely not enough time to get 2 goals after 70 minutes of total ineptitude.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,193 ✭✭✭Panrich

I cannot believe Watkins is still on the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,955 ✭✭✭Patser

Buendia was fecked, limping and on a yellow, and we need a goal. Who's the alternative from the bench? Allyson?

Watkins is a busted flush. I'd certainly have Alysson over him at this stage.
