Setting that high standard "negotiation skills" will not yield results with Tesla …the price is the price. With all vehicles the price has several components (Model, Colour, RWD vs.AWD, Wheels, Tow Hitch, Software) so at some stage the VRT threshhold (Fixed) will be breached and it would be difficult for Tesla to manage around this. You mention a specific variant but there will also be many other configurations that fall into the same trap. At times Tesla have been known to offer price adjustments (discounts) at last few days of quarter end if they have stock to shift but be aware even if this were to happen it will have no impact on VRT, as this is based on the OMSP (not actual purchase price). The price is the price….just trying to manage expectations.

Finally, I have been reacquinted with my beloved VIN 814XXX and the car is on the way to Ireland and I'll be due to collect at the latest on Friday next week.

I hope you succeed where other have failed. I remember in past Tesla was very strict about picking up car before end of quarter but then they allow to pick up car in new quarter to get new plates. Who knows what will change in next couple months.

I don't think they allow you to pick up the next quarter, certainly not at end of year. You will go back to the end of the queue. Your order is not cancelled, but is deferred. the only exception if it is their fault car has not arrived.

I originally ordered MY RWD Premium late December last year with an estimated delivery early January. There were only 2 working days remaining in the year. Had barely ordered and paid my €250 when the phone rang with Tesla looking for me to pay and collect car literally within a few days. I told them I would not be able to organise the cash in a day but still wanted the car as per their estimated delivery time. I was of course put back in the queue and my VIN vanished.

All this I fully understand and knew about previously, but was not expecting it to happen to me at this timeline.

But all worked out in the end, or so I hope on Friday..☺️

I will have a slightly more up to date car, for very little inconvenience save for having to get my own 2022 M3 RWD an NCT, which thankfully it passed.

Have you get a 9-speaker audio, or 15-speaker one? I'm finding it difficult to get a reliable info on the differences between the Long Range RWD and Long Range AWD models. Once would have thought that since both are Premium, the trim level is the same and that the only difference is the addition of the front motor with all its performance and handling implications.

”Where’s the revolution? Come on, people you’re letting me down!”

All the previous RWD Premium models had the lesser number of speakers and I expect mine to be similar. An easy way to check is some extra speakers are visible on the upper front door trims.

But until I see car on Friday who knows…

The Long Range RWD has only been given the "Premium badge" to differentiate it following the introduction of the lower spec/price LR model which now carries the Standard Title. The higher spec audio used to be just for AWD and Performance…so it is more these "higher speced" models that indicate higher spec audio

RWD has the lesser speakers, it's clearly on their website under the "compared models" option

Just to add another important addition, the €3500 trade-in bonus has now been included in my final price. At time of my order this had not yet been announced. I was fairly happy originally with the trade-in price, less than had I sold privately but far less hassle. But the extra 3.5k made it well worthwhile.

They lowered the trade in price after 28days as expected, but only by a few hundred €. I had only driven about 1k km since the previous quote.

I had better not count my chickens.. but if all goes at it should now, I am happy.

Hopefully all will be good with it on Friday. I'm half afraid to drive my own trade-in car in case they drop the value before delivery.

Best of luck with it, and don't forget to post a pic or two.

A great outcome at every level…well done. It ironic but a straight purchase for cash gets no incentive whereas with trade in 3.5K or fiancne a subsidised rate…..

Thanks, my own trade-in runs out Saturday, collection Friday afternoon.😊

I got a trade in offer on 30/1, it doesn't expire until 16/3. Estimated delivery window or 26/2 - 14/3. Thought it was 30 days max for trade in offer, seems I got 6+ weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 192 ✭✭declan123

Got 6 weeks also so seems to be the new standard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Same, 6 weeks is great, if and only if they can deliver in that time frame.

More likely it will take longer and a new trade in offer will be needed.

Yes I am the same now, just checked my trade-in expiry details. Valid for another week or so after collection Friday. So if things go tits-up on collection day I have a bit of unexpected leeway.

How long does it usually take to see an actual trade in offer?

Got an estimated one a week ago.

Just filled in all the details and added photos today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

Very soon hopefully, as long as it's not a Honda.🤣

    (Joke)

I think it depends on how far you are from estimated delivery. I was waiting 2 weeks but I expect if my delivery was to be sooner they'd have sent an offer sooner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

Depends on how long it takes for an offer to come in from the trade, my trade-in I suspect was actually from Tesla, ie that they are going to sell on the car themselves the car having lowish mileage (Just less than 60k km). Never asked me for any photos this time, offer came back in about 2 days iirc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭honda boi

Haha nah an old BMW, if it was a Honda id probably get a quicker response 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭honda boi

    Delivery is due 5th-10th March.

Only put the deposit down last night, so all very quick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭Delboy33

Great to here the 3500 trade-in bonus was applied to your order which you ordered late Dec. I also ordered the last week of Dec, have a collection date of Friday and waiting patiently for Tesla to also apply €3500 tradein to my order. Did you have to chase or request it or was it just applied automatically?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

I asked the sales person when I was down in Cork in January, who then went into the boss to check. Was told more than likely would apply, within the following few days I noticed it as Credit on the sales agreement. Also on the payment details as extra €3500 credit.

I suppose I technically started again when my Dec order for early January was not fulfilled, so it's the same as a January order.

    Chase them for the bonus.

I just got the trade-in bonus applied so collecting tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

Excellent. Well done. Their systems are good in hindsight. Just at the time can be a bit messy.
It’s actually easier than most mainstream brands to keep updated re delivery times etc, with Tesla being better than most at passing on deals and price drops after car ordering.
    Best of luck

Don't forget to post a few pics here, a lack of them recently.

If it of any help to others I have just paid the extra insurance premium with Aviva for changing to a MY from a M3 on Friday 27th.

Extra €50.25 for 11 more months of insurance, previously was €310 p/a so now approx €365 p/a if my maths correct.

Was expecting more tbh, took about 20 minutes to a very friendly lady not in Ireland, €25 fee for phone consult not charged due to not being possible to do online.
